It’s true that the overseas edition of Kingdom Hearts 3D is almost entirely the same game as its Japanese counterpart. However, Square Enix has made one small (but significant) change.

As many of you know, Kingdom Hearts 3D features a “Drop” mechanic that switches players between characters, even during boss fights. So if you’re playing as Sora and “Drop” is initiated, you’ll then start playing as Riku. The issue with the Japanese version is that the boss’ life meter would be refilled once you returned to your original character, but the character’s life bar would remain the same.

Fortunately, Kingdom Hearts 3D co-director Tai Yasu has said that Square Enix has corrected this for the overseas release. Your HP as well as the boss’ HP will both be restored before a boss battle begins.

Nintendo of America’s Twitter account has officially confirmed Fire Emblem: Awakening for North America.

The company tweeted:

“We are excited to confirm a NEW game announcement coming to the US: the new 3DS Fire Emblem! More info to come.”

At this point a 2013 release is probable, though maybe it’ll make it out before the end of the year.

… And to think we would have received no 3DS announcements had Reggie kept quiet!
