Ah, yes. The first game of what will surely be an entire lineup of “Mama” games for the 3DS has finally been announced. Mama’s going back to the kitchen!

EDISON, N.J., – May 24, 2011 – Majesco Entertainment (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, is bringing back the fan favorite video game chef for two exciting new titles that offer something for everyone – Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic and Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures, coming exclusively to Nintendo 3DSTM and Nintendo DSTM, respectively. The best-selling Mama franchise has sold 8 and a half million units in North America alone, and these new titles feature enough activities and challenges to keep both seasoned Mama fans and new players busy for hours on end.

“We’re very proud of the work we’ve put in to make the Mama brand one of the most successful and recognizable franchises in the industry,” said Jesse Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Majesco. “Gamers of all ages and backgrounds have been enjoying the Mama titles for years, and we think they’ll continue to do so with these next two additions as Mama explores new territories, be it the wild outdoors or the new technology the 3DS provides. With three additional cross-platform Mama skus planned for 2012, as well as the continued expansion of Cooking Mama Friend’s Café on Facebook, Majesco is committed long-term to this beloved franchise.”

With Project Cafe on the horizon, it makes sense that most developers will be cutting back on Wii support. Everyone’s looking forward to the future, including third-party companies. One such publisher is Capcom, who recently revealed that they only expect to develop two Wii titles this fiscal year – down from five the previous year.

It’s also worth pointing out that DS/3DS games are expected to see a slight decrease as well, from eleven titles last year to nine this coming year. You can check out the full results for all platforms below (numbers in parenthesis indicate previous year data).

PS3: 16 titles, 8 million units (11 / 6.2 million)
X360: 14 titles, 4.7 million units (11 / 4.2 million)
DS/3DS: 9 titles, 2.4 million units (11 / 1.7 million)
PSP: 11 titles, 2.2 million units (11 / 6.2 million)
PC/Other: 3 titles, 500,000 units (3 / 500,000)
Wii: 2 titles, 200,000 units (5 / 1.4 million)
