New Gameplay Takes the Legal Adventure to the Scene of the Crime
SAN MATEO, Calif. — February 16, 2010 — Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, ships Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS™: Miles Edgeworth today on Nintendo DS™ for North American retailers. Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS™: Miles Edgeworth is the latest offering in Capcom’s successful Ace Attorney® franchise, swapping the courtroom stage for the crime scene and getting to the bottom of cases that will test the skills of eagle-eyed players with challenges developed uniquely for Nintendo DS.

Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS™: Miles Edgeworth sheds light on the other side of the judicial system by bringing a whole new gameplay dynamic to the world of Ace Attorney. By using Nintendo DS touch pad capabilities, users will guide Miles Edgeworth through various locations, examine and analyze clues, work directly with characters on the scene, find contradictions in suspect statements, and get to the truth by presenting decisive evidence. Miles Edgeworth can also make use of the all-new “Logic” system, in which he chooses two pieces of information out of the various pieces he has collected and “combines” them to discover new information. Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS™: Miles Edgeworth features several lengthy, interrelated episodes that will require players to use deductive reasoning to assist Miles Edgeworth in cracking the case.

There have been a bunch of rumors lately surrounding new Nintendo hardware over the past few weeks. One employee from a major publisher even went as far as to say that Nintendo might unveil a new platform at the Game Developer’s Conference, which will be taking place in just a few weeks.

Now rumor has it that Nintendo has started sending development kits for their next DS system. These kits have, apparently, been received by numerous studios already. Additionally, if further speculation is to be believed, the company may start selling the hardware before the end of 2010. Nintendo declined to comment about the latest batch of rumors, but perhaps the DS 2 will be officially announced at GDC or E3 if the company intends to release the system this year.

“Thank you for your further email. At this stage, no details about a possible transfer of the acquired Nintendo DSiWare known. Should this be possible in exceptional cases, would be sending both devices are required. Please contact for further questions do so again on its release of the Nintendo DSi XL to our customer service.” – Nintendo customer service response

This news isn’t surprising, as Nintendo of Australia took a similar stance last year for consumers who wished to transfer their data to a different colored DSi. It’s definitely a shame that there isn’t a convenient way to transfer downloads from one system to another. I wonder if it will be possible to move WiiWare/VC titles to the Wii’s successor when it launches…

Thanks to Johannes for the news tip!

In honor of Presidents Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the qualities that make a great leader, plus some exceptional games you can use to nurture them. Problem-solving skills are a must, both in the Oval Office and in the new Phoenix Wright™ Ace Attorney: JUSTICE FOR ALL game for the WiiWare service. A way with words is essential, too, as you’ll discover in Scrabble™ Classic for the Nintendo DSiWare service. Real Soccer 2010 proves the value of teamwork, while Spotto! ™ highlights the importance of facing fearsome threats head-on. And while we’re not sure how effective a hedgehog would be as commander-in-chief, the SEGA classic Sonic & Knuckles™ – now available to Wii™ owners via the Virtual Console™ – demonstrates real bipartisan appeal.
