Solve a mystery with Professor Layton for the first time in 3D as a new storyline unfolds in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask

30th August 2012 – Archaeologist and puzzle-solver Professor Layton is set to return in an all-new adventure that will take players deeper into the professor’s past than ever before: Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. The latest title in the popular series of puzzle-solving adventures will be available across Europe from 26th October 2012, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL as a packaged game available from retail outlets and simultaneously as a download via the Nintendo eShop.

Featuring 150 brand new brainteasers and a new set of minigames courtesy of the Professor’s Trunk, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask also boasts 365 additional Daily Puzzles distributed via the Nintendo Network – one puzzle a day for a whole year from the day of the game’s launch.

Renegade Kid, known for titles such as Mutant Mudds and Dementium, has become an authorized Wii U developer. The studio is now in a position to make games for the console.

Co-founder Jools Watsham tweeted:

“Guess who’s an authorized Wii U developer now? Yep, Renegade Kid is in the Wii U house baby!”

Renegade Kid has never made a game for a Nintendo home console before, but the cancelled Son of the Dragon was considered for Wii at one point. Perhaps they’ll give Wii U development a try?

After months of waiting, Fractured Soul’s release date is now set in stone. Endgame Studio confirmed to Joystiq that the game will be available on the eShop on September 13 for $11.99.

This may seem pricier compared to other releases on the store, but managing director Grant Davies says that it’s “less than half of the retail price” when it was originally scheduled to arrive on store shelves. The price was determined so that Endgame wouldn’t “end up completely broke.”

Other commentary from Davies concerns Nintendo’s new policy to place games on the eShop on the same day they hit retail:

“The more quality products you can find in the eShop the better. Gamers need to be confident that when they go to the eShop, they’re getting a quality offering. That’s one of the problems that something like the App Store has.” (With things like New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the service, people will be) more willing to engage with eShop and check out what’s on there.”
