Although Nintendo has two significant releases for the remainder of the year, the titles couldn’t be any more different. Wii Fit Plus is a clear casual experience while New Super Mario Bros. Wii contains classic platforming. But does Nintendo believe they can compete against the likes of Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2? Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO of Nintendo of America, explained when he was asked about that very question in an interview.

“We’re selling both to the gamer who grew up playing Nintendo, who grew up playing Metroid, who is playing those games, maybe has a second console in the house. Speaking not only to those consumers, but also speaking to a much wider audience. So for us, it’s core and more, right? It’s both that heavy playing consumer today as well as a much larger opportunity.”

Fry those zombies up!

Alter saving her grandmother from the claws of the Wolf and its army of the evil everything seemed to have gone back to normal. Nothing further from reality. With the recent and tragic death on combat of the woodman, an invasion of leper zombies endangers once again the peace in the world.

Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ is a really fun shooter for Nintendo DsiWare™, where you have to move forward by shooting down every living (or dying) creature in your path! Use the great arsenal of weapons at your disposal to do away with the savage hoards of zombies. Shoot, blast, massacre, bombard and burn your enemies to the bone with a simple touch of your stylus on the console screen. Can you save fairy tale land or will you let its creatures live an unhappy-ever-after-life?

“Yeah, we’re doing console. We’re getting into console. We’re not abandoning DS in the sense that we’ll never do it again, but for right now we’re moving into console. That’s where we always started [our] company. I started the company six years ago with our Technical Director, and Joe our General Manager, so we’re doing console next year and it will be original. We always do original stuff. You won’t see licensed stuff. I mean you might see licensed stuff in the sense like a Mario game that’s original or something like that. We’re not doing that, but I’m just saying I would. I would do that, but not like a movie license or something dumb. I like how Bioware did the Star Wars RPG, it wasn’t like ‘Oh we’re just making a Star Wars game. No, we’re taking the license and making something really awesome with it.’ That’s (Wii) one of the consoles. We’re actually working on multiple consoles. There’s multiple titles…Yes (multiple titles), and Wii is one of them.” – Jeremiah Slaczka of 5th Cell

I honestly can’t wait to see what 5th Cell has in store for consoles. I’m saddened that they’re putting the DS on the back burner temporarily, but based on previous 5th Cell titles I’ve played, I’m sure the company has a few unique ideas for the projects they are currently busy with.

First download title brings unique platform game to Nintendo handheld
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced its first DSiWare™ download title, in the form of Reflection – a platform game with puzzle elements designed exclusively for the new Nintendo handheld.

Reflection is a clever take on the platform genre, wherein players control a female character and her mirror images as they play through two stages simultaneously. Players take on the role of an adventurer named Kirra who is charged with retrieving a magical mirror that has been broken, unleashing a shattered reality which has also split Kirra into two pieces: one good, one evil.
