NPD confirms that Wii Play was the best-selling game of 2008 in the US

The NPD confirmed today that Wii Play was the best-selling game of 2008 in the United States. One could try to make the argument that Wii Play is purchased merely for the extra controller. However, data shows that Wii Play owners have spent an average of nine hours on the game. The top 5 best-selling games of 2008 are below:
1. Wii Play 5.28
2. Madden NFL ‘09 5.25
3. Grand Theft Auto IV 5.22
4. Mario Kart w/ Wheel 5.00
5. Call of Duty: World at War 4.63

– Enemies aren’t that much of a challenge to defeat early on, but avoiding them may be a bit tough
– the main character can only stun some enemies earlier on in the game
– if you are stunned, shake the Wiimote to get out

– multiple hidden objects that can unlock bonus levels

Jaleco Holdings’ Kizuna, an action RPG that has drawn many comparisons to Shadows of the Colossus could be in trouble. The company announced last week that they are withdrawing from the video game business. Instead, Jaleco will shift its focus to financial services. The company’s games subsidiary is now owned by Game Yaro.
All of this spells trouble for Kizuna, a game that has been in development for the Wii. Right now, the status of Jaleco’s projects is unknown as Game Yaro has not officially commented on the game’s future.

I can’t blame Moore for giving World of Goo accolades. It was one of the best Wii games of 2009, if not one of the best titles in general.

A trademark for Blood of Bahamut was discovered in the United States Patent Office. Though this doesn’t completely guarantee that the game is heading stateside, the chances are more than likely.
