Wii U

Shigeru Miyamoto recently conducted an interview with Japanese publication 4Gamer. Two portions of the talk have been translated previously, and now the third and final piece has appeared

There’s still a bunch of discussion about Pikmin 3, naturally, but Miyamoto also speaks about the Wii U in general. You can find the full thing here.

Some European Wii U owners purchasing Pikmin 3 from GAME were able to receive the download version a few days early. However, upon initial inspection, it appeared that Nintendo Network Premium points were not being provided. There was also concern that by obtaining Pikmin 3 before its official launch, such users wouldn’t be eligible for the 30% discount on digital copies of The Wonderful 101.

Nintendo has now stepped in and clarified the situation. Even if you downloaded Pikmin 3 early, you’ll be eligible for The Wonderful 101 promotion. The Nintendo Network Premium points situation is also being looked into, but it sounds like that also won’t be an issue.

Nintendo’s official statement reads:

Nintendo has approved Scirra for Wii U development, the company announced on Facebook today.

Scirra’s first order of business will be with regard to Construct 2. Sometime in the future, the engine will gain a Wii U exporter – meaning even more projects will be possible for the system.

The original Wii was really innovative and Nintendo could very well do something like that again in the living room. Nintendo has always been a pioneer and has always been innovative, so there’s a good chance it will continue to do that.

Codemasters founder David Darling

Darling apparently went on to talk about how Nintendo could look into the realm of brain-controlled gaming with their next home consols, or perhaps something even later than that, and said that the tech is already being researched heavily at Warwick University.

NetherRealm Studios held a stream for Injustice: Gods Among Us and highlighted the upcoming Martian Manhunter DLC.

The following tidbits were shared, as transcribed by Siliconera:

  • Martian Manhunter has an excellent teleport coupled with a variety of tools that allow him to function well as an anti-zoning character .
  • His trait is an “Alien Malleability” that allows him stretch various parts of his body to extend his combos in ways not otherwise possible.
  • While he can deal damage at a close range, he isn’t a rushdown type and according to comments made on stream he isn’t exceptionally good at mid-range.
  • Martian Manhunter the ability to perform an air dash and by spending meter he can cancel into another air dash in the opposite direction.

NetherRealm also confirmed once again that more character DLC is on the way, and the game itself has been a very big success. More live-streams will be held accompanying future character releases.
