Wii Sports Resort
– Craig gave it a 7.7
– Matt pretty much agreed with Craig’s score, was hoping it wouldn’t be overrated
– Game does insane stuff for the casual crowd…Bozon’s niece got addicted to swordplay, family didn’t want Bozon to take the game home
– Some games in there that aren’t super great
– Really good compilation of mini-games but in terms of polish, doesn’t have everything you’d expect out of a really awesome Wii title
– Feels like step 1 for the mini-games
– Matt thinks that not having a Mario Bowling is a missed opportunity
– Ideas you’d expect Nintendo to use but then they don’t really use it that often
– Craig thinks the airplane controls well, skydiving portion is actually fun
– Can tell which games are tacked on and which are good efforts
– Bicycling isn’t fun
– The more Craig plays Wii Sports Resort, the more he understands what MotionPlus actually is – More like a glorified tilt sensor
– MotionPlus still not 1:1 but makes Wiimote much better controller
– Cycling is Bozon’s least favorite game, Craig thinks it’s the boxing of Wii Sports Resort
– In terms of controls, basketball isn’t the best
– Review scores have been all over the place
– Wii MotionPlus already over 150k+ sales
– Tiger Woods selling very well with the pack in
– Also showed up as multiplatform (NPD), Matt wants to know how well the Wii version sold
There will be more Spyborgs if the first game does well

“Creative directors from three ratchet games and resistence isn’t bad, no? As one example. If we’re successful, naturally there’ll be more. Fingers crossed.” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development
I’m still not very confident that Spyborgs is going to do well when it hits store shelves. There’s just something about the game that makes me think it’ll fly right under the radar. However, if the first Spyborgs is of high-quality, I would not be opposed to seeing the title turn into a series.

EA: Motion control is here to stay
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
“I think where motion controls really work is making games more accessible. I would never have imagined my mum playing a bowling game, she’s in her late 60s. I couldn’t imagine her bowling, I couldn’t imagine her doing exercise in front of the TV, I couldn’t imagine her knocking down a tower of things with a control pad. The Wii and the motion control makes it accessible. I think that’s what motion control does – it makes games more accessible to people. I don’t think they replace typical control devices or typical interfaces, but they do definitely augment them. The right games work on the right platforms. They’re definitely here to stay and they’re definitely cool, and through the accessibility they’re bringing more people into gaming.” – Harvey Elliott, head of EA Bright Light studio in Guildford
Even in the short time that motion control has been available in the industry, it has proven to be very profitable and has allowed casual players to test out the waters of video gaming. And with Microsoft and Sony developing their own ideas based on motion control, that concept won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
