“Due to the severe and continuing depreciation of the pound, we are, unfortunately, having to raise our trade price to UK retailers of Wii hardware. The price that they then offer to consumers is, of course, up to the retailers. We are only – reluctantly – raising our trade price now to retailers due to unprecedented and sustained depreciation of the pound. This is a problem brought about by extreme currency fluctuations that are a symptom of the global economic situation.” – Nintendo spokesperson

“Do not rule it out [western release]. That is all I can say right now. We are still actively working on having that happen. I can’t say it’s happening definitively. I couldn’t give you a time frame, but as badly as the fans want it, we want to bring it.

There are licensing issues to contend with. The Tatsunoko rights are split as far as how they are held in the west. Tatsunoko obviously holds all of the rights in Japan so they can grant all of those characters usage through Japan very easily. But when they license those properties out to various stakeholders in the west, aligning all of those things properly, and to be fair the team that did it is working on something else now, so actually also clawing back the resources to do a localised version, to make any changes that are needed to get through those licensing issues, these are all things that need to be aligned before we can actually profit from this happening.”

The team that did it is a very talented team in high demand. And unfortunately they’re not an internal team so we don’t have 100 per cent control of saying OK just pull those guys back in. They have their own business to run.” – Capcom’s Christian Svensson, vice president, business development and strategic planning

Capcom does seem to be doing their best to bring Tatsunoko vs. Capcom to other territories. This game is just an unfortunate instance in that licensing issues and a few other roadblocks are preventing the game’s release.

Over 500,000 Units Sold; NPD Top Seller for January

RENO, Nev. – March 11, 2009 – 3G Studios, Inc. responded to reports that the game has sold over 500,000 units and is an NPD Top Seller. Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 continues to set records as it has since its release. The game was the first celebrity workout title to ship on the Nintendo WiiTM and has proven to have opened the door for additional workout and health based games to enter the market going forward. 3G was also the first independent developer to ship a title which incorporated the use of the Wii Balance BoardTM.

3G Studios helped redefine what it takes to have a successful game by targeting a new audience. “We never set out to make a hardcore video game. We focused on creating an interactive training session with arguably the best-known fitness trainer on the planet. We want people to sweat and have fun doing it,” said James Kosta, CEO of 3G Studios, Inc. He continued, “Jillian is fantastic to work with. We had a blast trying to keep up with her.”
