“To prepare all you Mega Man fans for the release of Mega Man 9 in September, we’re going to offer you the opportunity to play the game that started it all.  The orginal Mega Man game returns on the Virtual Console this Monday, August 4, 2008.  Yes, that’s right.  Brush up on your old school skills and prepare for some cool contests we have in store.  We also plan to re-release Mega Man 2 in early September as well.” – Capcom-Unity blog

Hm…Apparently,  Samurai Shodown II and Ys Book I & II are slated for release as well. Will Nintendo really release three VC games on the same day?

The newest Mario Kart Wii tournament went live a few days ago, but unfortunately, some participants took it upon themselves to hack their way to the top. Two racers have submitted ludicrous times – 0.004 and 0.609 seconds. Immediately upon looking at these results, one would quickly surmise that the results would not have been able to have been achieved through ethical means. Also, one of the hackers has gone so far as to dawn the name “ihack@you.” This is not the first time the Mario Kart Wii online system has been hacked. Previously, people began to exploit the Time Trials system to earn impossible times. Nintendo was able to root out and take care of cheaters, so it is expected that Nintendo will take similar action with this latest issue.

No MotionPlus for MadWorld

Posted on 16 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 1 Comment

MadWorld might turn out to be one of the break-out tiles of 2009 on the Wii, but there is one specific inclusion that won’t make it into the final version of the game: Wii MotionPlus. Christopher Kaminski, Associate Producer of the game, gave the unfortunate news that MadWorld won’t be making use of Nintendo’s newest add-on. Instead, however, there could be multiplayer support. Kaminski wouldn’t say anything explicity, although when he was asked if MadWorld would have any mutliplayer functionality, he laughed and game a simple reply, “No comment.”

Every so often, there is one crazy story that is related to video games and can really make someone scratch his head in confusement. One of the latest examples comes from a young man named Yang, who conspired with two other men to fake his own kidnapping. Police captured the two “kidnapers” after the 10,000 yuan ransom was taken from an ATM machine. Yang later admitted that he was hoping he would be able to extort money from his parents, as they were refusing to purchase a “Nintendo computer” for him. I assume that the “Nintendo computer” is referring to the Wii, unless Yang was actually looking for a Famicom!

PSP – 256,765 units
DS – 217,639 units
Wii – 171,851 units

PS3 – 54,823 units

As usual, both the Wii and DS are on sales warpaths. The PSP, however, managed to slightly outsell the DS in Japan.
