GoldenEye 64 designer believes Activision bringing back the game because the name is valuable

This information comes from Martin Hollis, the designer of the original GoldenEye…
“I imagine it is a business decision isn’t it? This name is valuable, let’s use it. I find it hard to picture Activision’s top management being excited about the original and wanting to do it justice. In fact, I find it hard to imagine them being excited about any game. It’s my perception that they are trying to be EA, only more so. I think they are doing a fine job at that… I know and like Eurocom. I think they are a good company. I’m confident they have done their very best.”
I know reviving GoldenEye won’t please everyone, but I don’t think Activision asked Eurocom to remake the game only as a result of a business decision. Yesterday, we saw some really encouraging words from Activision’s Julian Widdows about the project, as well as the Wii in general. So I’m sure there are a number of employees at the company who wish to release a high-quality product for the fans.

Conduit 2 delayed to Q1 2011, will support the Classic Controller
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 4 Comments
Even though Conduit 2 was on track to be released on November 2, coverage of the game has been rather light recently. Perhaps we know the reason for that now. SEGA and High Voltage Software have quietly confirmed that Conduit 2 has been pushed back to 2011. The two companies also revealed that the title will support the Classic Controller/Classic Controller Pro when it arrives in the first quarter of next year.

– Can’t play right away
– Unlock multiplayer stages by finding secret rings in the main game
– Don’t play as Sonic(s) in co-op
– Co-op presented as sort of an Eggman/Robotnik-designed simulation with different-colored robot-Sonics going through levels specifically made for two players
– Ctombine Color abilities to find secrets
– Same speed in co-op as in single-player
– Pulley systems require both players to air dash into each other over and over to move upward
– Covert battles to collect more rings than the other player

– Encounter blocks guarding rings or a goal that can be reached after extensive drilling, or destroyed instantly if you work together by timing the activation of the laser/drill to combine into a super-laser drill
– Other combinations as well
– Six tiers, three levels each
