Nintendo isn’t just working on Yoshi Yarn for the Wii U. It’s also working on Yoshi’s Island for the 3DS, which was revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo is keeping quiet on most of the details for the time being, so we’ll have to wait for more information!

Mario Party will be making its debut on the 3DS this winter.

Ubisoft is scheduled to launch the free Rayman Legends Challenges App on the Wii U eShop later this month. The exclusive download is Ubisoft’s way of showing their thanks to fans for their patience in waiting for the full game’s arrival.

The Challenges App will offer Wii U owners the following, according to lead game designer Emile Morel:

  • a crazy run in Land of the Livid Dead.
  • a journey in the vertiginous Neverending Pit.
  • a climb of the Infinite Tower as fast as possible.
  • Murfy’s Dungeon, a challenge dedicated to the Wii U GamePad where you play as Murfy on the touch screen.

Players will be able to partake in daily and weekly challenges “to compete with your friends and players from all around the world” through the online Challenge Mode. New and exclusive levels will be generated each day and every week, and the app will be supported up through the launch of the full game.

Morel told Nintendo Life that “The Rayman dev team will provide some exclusive tips and tricks for Wii U owners on Miiverse and on Facebook” and there are plans to “organize contests between our fans and the Rayman dev team.”

SEGA has finally confirmed that the company will be releasing Castle of Illusion staring Mickey Mouse this summer. The game, which is being rebuilt from the ground up by SEGA Studios Australia, will offer “stunning visuals and new gameplay mechanics.”

Here’s where things get a bit odd: Castle of Illusion is apparently coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Steam. There’s no word on a Wii U or PS Vita release, even though both platforms were included in official Brazilian classification ratings.

We’ll try to get some answers…

NintendoEverything is, quite obviously, a Nintendo-centric website. We deal in the happenings over at the Big N– occasionally branching out and discussing things that are going on industry-wide– but by and large we are happy to keep concerned only with the things that our favorite developer and publisher does. It’s more than enough to keep someone busy for months on end after all, and usually the topics that are being discussed on a grander scale (downloadable content, violence in video games, etc) don’t affect “us” too much, because Nintendo is usually “behind the times” when it comes to keeping up with trends.

Ah, but today, something has come up that I think is worth discussing despite that fact: This idea of “always-online”. This concept that my console, game, or PC must be connected to the internet at all times in order to play the games I want to play, or use the services I want to use. There are two arguments being made:

1) “Always-online is the future. It’s an advancement in technology that we have to get with in order for the gaming industry to move forward.”

2) “But what if I don’t have a stable internet connection? It’s ridiculous that I wouldn’t be able to play games because of technical hiccups.”

Personally, I think both of these arguments are a load of things-that-are-bad-arguments.

During Nintendo Direct’s February broadcast, Nintendo teased an exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf feature for both North America and Europe. The company has now made the mystery inclusion public through the newly-translated Iwata Asks interview.

New Leaf allows players to collect houses through StreetPass and view them in the Happy Home Showcase. According to an editor’s note posted in the the Iwata Asks discussion, Nintendo plans to distribute its own homes in this area. Nothing mind-blowing, but a neat little feature for sure.
