Wii U eShop

Nintendo is bringing back its classic Wii Sports release for Wii U. All of the original title’s sports mini-games – bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing, and golf, are returning on the company’s new console.

Wii Sports Club features new HD visuals, MotionPlus technology, and an online multiplayer versus mode. Users will be able to register to state or regional clubs and chat with others through Miiverse during matches. Additionally, you’ll be able to either play casually against other members of your own club or challenge members of rival clubs to increase club rankings.

All of the mini-games will be released individually on the eShop. Starting on November 7, Tennis and Bowling will go live. Boxing, Baseball, and Golf will also arrive “in the months ahead.”

Pricing is set at $9.99 each. A trial pass option will also be available, which allows players to experience any available games for a 24-hour period from when the Wii Sports Club game is started. A Day Pass can be purchased for $1.99 after this period.

Two new Virtual Console games are on track for the Japanese Wii U eShop next week. Shin Megami Tensei II and Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shōgun Magginesu will be out on September 25. Pricing is set at 800 yen each.

WayForward has announced that Inti Creates is working on Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The studio is involved with art-related assets, such as key artwork, concepts, and character illustrations.

Inti Creates was initially signed on for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. Since then, the company has simply continued on and has assisted WayForward with Half-Genie Hero.

Inti Creates’ previous work includes Mega Man 9 and 10. Additionally, the studio is developing Mighty No. 9 (hence the image above).

Yesterday, Nintendo confirmed in its weekly download report for Europe that Kung Fu Rabbit will be going on sale this week. The game’s developer has now confirmed the same sale for North America. Starting on Thursday, you can purchase Kung Fu Rabbit at a 50% discount, bringing the price down to $2.49.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams developer Black Forest Games intends to fully support Wii U going forward. All of the company’s future games will be brought to the console, and simultaneous releases are planned – meaning there won’t be any sort of delay for Wii U versions.

Black Forest Games is also interested in the 3DS. In fact, according to managing director Adrian Goersch, the studio is interested in bringing Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams to the handheld.

Goersch told Nintendo Life:

“We are planning to bring every game we develop to the Wii U as well, and we are planning for simultaneous releases. So no delay for Nintendo fans. 3DS is something we would like to do for Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams one day.”

Mighty No. 9 has reached what is arguably the biggest stretch goal for the game’s Kickstarter campaign thus far: console versions. The project has now been given an official release on the Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Mighty No. 9 reached the goal just a short while ago after collecting $2.2 million in funds.

There are still two weeks remaining in the Kickstarter, and plenty of additional stretch goals to hit. You can donate to the project here.

River City Ransom: Underground has a shot of landing on both the Wii U and 3DS. Conatus Creative expressed quite a bit of interest in both systems when we recently approached the studio.

When asked about a potential release on Nintendo’s platforms, founder Daniel Crenna told us:

Our original game plan was: focus on funding on Windows, forget about stretch goals until we’re there, then talk about more platforms. But, all good plans…

We decided PS4 based on information we had at the time and what’s possible for us technically, but we want people to know that we want this on every platform, especially consoles like WiiU and handhelds like 3DS. So, whether we do it in a stretch goal (and we may not reach our first based on our current trajectory) or we do it funded by sales of our Windows release, the platform story doesn’t end with this Kickstarter.

As long as we ship a great game, and have strong numbers and a good relationship with our licensor, then we will have all the incentive we need to keep working on this game on as many platforms as possible, including River City Ransom’s original home on Nintendo.

Conatus Creative launched its Kickstarter last week in order to fund River City Ransom: Underground. Over $67,500 CAD has been raised thus far with three weeks left to go. The campaign’s target is set at $180,000.
