Pikmin 3 details

Posted on 11 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments

The latest Pikmin 3 details are as follows:

– Game has co-op that is somewhat like an evolution of Pikmin 3’s challenge mode
– Work with another player to secure as much loot as possible within each level’s time limit
– Those two players are actually in charge of managing three captains — Alph, Charlie and Brittany — simultaneously, but each can only control one at a time
– Swap between their active captain and the reserve at will
– Ex: while playing as Alph, can pick up Charlie and toss him to a higher platform, then swap to Charlie, who was able to yank some formerly unreachable Pikmin from the ground
– Flying Pikmin can hover over hazards, but aren’t powerful with melee attacks and their ability to transport cargo can become a little counterintuitive — if you have ground-based Pikmin trying to pull fruit while your Flyers are trying to lift it, it’s going to go absolutely nowhere
– Flyers are required to pass through certain obstacles
– Can only lift a type of heavy gate by lifting it with the help of 10 Flying Pikmin
– Every time you want to return some material to your ship, need to make sure you have all 10, all back at the gate, ready to lift
– Co-op only playable with Wiimote and nunchuck
– Demo level was large and labyrinthine

Bayonetta 2 details

Posted on 11 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments

Details on Bayonetta 2 are as follows:

– E3 demo is mainly enemy encounters
– Violence hasn’t been toned down
– Fast-paced combat system
– Combo-centric
– Bayonetta is just as capable of meleeing, kicking and shooting her way through crowds of angelic enemies as she was in the original, gaining advantage on her foes by dodging their attacks and activating Witch Time to bring their movements to a near stop
– Brutal Torture Attacks are also back, letting players execute weakened foes with a brief quick time event and a summoned, hair-based murder machine
– Torture Attack in the demo involved a pair of grinders and a fatality reminiscent of the treadmill fight from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
– New abilities including “Umbral Climax”
– After filling up a meter with successful combos, turns Bayonetta’s regular attacks into enormous, screen-sized strikes
– Her attacks in this state are just as stylish as her other special maneuvers, sending enemies flying with giant, floating fists and feet made from her trademark raven hair
– Sexuality hasn’t been cut back either
– The ratio of attack power/clothing is very much still in effect, leaving Bayonetta with little more than a few strands of hair covering her body after pulling off a huge combo
– Battle is set on the back of a speeding harrier jet flying through the heart of a congested city, chased by other jets and massive, horrific angels
– Bayonetta’s foil from the first game, Jeanne, makes an appearance
– Off-TV play
– Cinematic “Touch” mode: control Bayonetta using the GamePad’s touchscreen
– Nintendo hinted that Touch mode would be designed to make the game more palatable to casual audiences

– Ground pound ability is back
– Blowing move is gone
– This is now replaced with a handle-grabbing pull, allowing Kong to pull up platforms and levers
– Diddy is found in a barrel
– Diddy adds hearts and gives his jumps extra horizontal movement
– Mixed into the typical platform mechanics are the usual array of collectibles, tucked into every corner and under every floor board
– Barrels propel you in every possible direction, even pulling you into the backgrounds of levels and into entirely new areas
– Greater, more dynamic purpose to how this game moves through its levels
– Donkey Kong’s new opposition, invading Vikings, have an immediate impact, in part because they’re simply something different, but mostly because they have incredible personalities imparted strictly through their in-world appearance
– Penguins fire fish arrows as you move from barrel to barrel

– New costume gives cat-like abilities
– With it, Mario can pounce, scratch, and climb objects, including walls and flag poles

– Translucent pipes play a big role in 3D World, allowing players to not only see where they’re going, be redirect their trajectory mid-pipe warp, allowing for branching paths and even enemies in what was once considered a “safe” space in the Mushroom Kingdom
– Mario and his friends can fight back, and even shoot fireballs into pipes, causing the fiery projectiles to blast out the other side
– Boss fight: worm-like dragon protected by a handful of smaller-yet-similar worms with plates on their heads
– Scale the worms to leap from plate to plate, making your way to the dragon’s head
– Dragony things move around, objects fall from the sky and other various problematic situations arise
