Wii U

Capcom fulfilled two goals this past Thursday. The company finally confirmed that Monster Hunter Tri G would be localized, and also announced its first Wii U game, a separate version of the 3DS Monster Hunter title.

One Capcom-Unity member was curious about support for the console beyond Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Responding to the inquiry, Corporate Officer/Senior Vice-President Christian Svensson confirmed that there are “other projects in the works”.

Svensson wrote:

“I have to be careful what I say here as it will surely be overanalyzed and misinterpreted to be more than what I’m saying.

“We have other projects in the works beyond MH3 Ultimate. Unfortunately at this time I can not provide any details. I’m sure as someone who is interested in Wii U and a Capcom-Unity.com member, you won’t be able to miss news of future projects when they finally do get announced.”

Consumers are quickly running out of retailers to pre-order the Wii U from. GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and Kmart are all sold out. You can add Toys “R” Us to the list as well.

Wii U pre-orders have been pulled from Toys “R” Us’ site. Although the official page suggests that more stock will open up in the future, that’s not a guarantee.

Strength in Numbers

Earth is under attack from an invasion of enormous aliens, and the only thing that can protect the planet is a group of unlikely, yet mighty, heroes with special abilities. Unfortunately, the aliens are too powerful for the heroes to fight individually. They must join forces and work together to defeat their common enemy. These uniquely different heroes can morph into powerful weapons to crush the invaders or turn into objects like a giant fist or bridge to interact with and traverse the environments.

Three different studios are working on Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Even with the newly announced Wii U version, the Wii version remains the lead platform for the project.

Junction Point Studios is handling development on the Wii title. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are being produced by Blitz Games. Finally, Heavy Iron is making the Wii U edition.

Heavy Iron’s slate of games is mostly made up of licensed products. They’ve worked on properties such as SpongeBob and Scooby-Doo, and a few movie tie-ins. Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is the studio’s latest project.
