Nintendo Unveils Exciting Lineups for Wii and Nintendo 3DS

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo is loading 2012 with surprises for all kinds of gamers. Today Nintendo can confirm that the acclaimed role-playing game The Last Story™ will come to North America for the Wii™ console in 2012, published by XSEED Games. Nintendo also can reveal that Xenoblade Chronicles™ will launch on April 6, complete with fan-chosen artwork that will be featured in the game’s packaging.

“Together, these two games level up the excitement for RPG fans in America,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “Whether roaming the vast landscape of Xenoblade Chronicles or choosing crossbows to battle with or against companions in The Last Story, gamers will recognize these titles as benchmarks for the genre.”

… As was revealed in the latest Nintendo Direct show.

22 February 2012 – Whether you own a Nintendo 3DS™, Nintendo DS™ or Wii™, the recent Nintendo Direct features something for everybody. If you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet then head over to www.nintendo.co.uk/nintendodirect to see Mr Iwata discuss some of the upcoming launches and content that is coming soon from Nintendo. Fans can also keep up to date with exclusive new game information and official Nintendo announcements by following the newly launched official Nintendo of Europe Twitter feed @NintendoEurope

In this latest Nintendo Direct, Mr Sakurai, the creative force behind the world famous Super Smash Brothers™ and Kirby™ series made an appearance to talk about his latest game Kid Icarus™: Uprising. He comments on one of the forthcoming 3 on 3 multiplayer battles, while using the unique difficulty system – the Fiend’s Cauldron – which rewards the gamers with stronger weapons, as well as on the innovative AR Card feature within the game. He will also introduce the StreetPass™ functionality of Kid Icarus: Uprising, where players will have the ability to share one of their weapons with other Kid Icarus: Uprising owners. The selected weapon is turned into a Weapon Gem. Shared Weapon Gems can be converted into real weapons by paying Hearts. Players can also fuse Weapon Gems together by paying Hearts to create a more powerful Weapon.

The Last Story is coming to North America after all.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime announced during the latest Nintendo Direct that the game will be brought stateside.

Here’s the catch: Nintendo won’t be publishing title. Localization duties will be regulated to, believe it or not, XSEED.

The Last Story is due out in North America this year.

Nintendo of Europe just dropped off a press release about the latest Nintendo Direct, and it contains fantastic news about Pandora’s Tower. The company has confirmed that a limited edition version of the game will be available at launch. An art book will be included in the package.

“Fans of action packed RPGs can look forward to the launch of a limited edition Pandora’s Tower™ on 13 April exclusively for Wii. The limited edition offers fans a premium steel book casing and a beautiful 32 page art book, showcasing the best imagery of the game. Hot off the heels of The Last Story™, Pandora’s Tower is the latest in a line of story driven, action RPGs to launch for Wii and features real-time combat, motion controls, a unique relationship mechanic and multiple possible endings depending on your style of play.”

Great news keeps rolling on in for Europe. Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that the Fatal Frame 2 remake, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition, will be released in the continent.

Nintendo of Europe tweeted the following a short while ago:

“Two games from Project Zero team coming to Europe Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir on #3DS & Project Zero 2: Wii Edition”

We knew about Spirit Camera thanks to Nintendo’s last financial report, but now there shouldn’t be any doubt about that game being localized either.
