[Let’s Talk] What’s left for Nintendo on Switch in 2023?

Posted on May 27, 2023 by (@NE_Brian) in Let's Talk, Switch

Switch owners are currently left in the dark when it comes to what’s next from Nintendo. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just launched and that’s an absolutely massive title that can carry the company for a bit, but there should be more games coming this year. After Pikmin 4 in July, Nintendo isn’t just going to stop there. DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and other titles will help pad out the schedule, but it remains to be seen what Nintendo has cooking as far as brand new games go.

Something like a Nintendo Direct could quickly and easily give fans a better idea as to what’s planned. However, whereas in the past you could always count on a presentation airing in June alongside E3, that’s not a certainty anymore – especially since the expo has been cancelled for 2023. Having said that, Nintendo can put out a Direct whenever it feels it’s the best opportunity to do so, and randomly announcing new games on social media isn’t out of the question either.

With that out of the way, what do you think we’ll see from Nintendo for the rest of 2023? Do you think Metroid Prime 4 could make it out this year? What do you personally hope to see? Let us know in the comments.

Highlights from last week’s topic: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom impressions

Stephen Yap

Just got done finding all of the Skyview Towers and clearing 30 Shrines.

So far, I’m greatly enjoying it, but The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom kind of felt too “by the numbers” for me at times due to having to revisit the same Hyrule Kingdom as with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (among other things) and while the new abilities are cool, I also miss the predecessor’s Runes (especially the Remote Bombs, which helped provide me “non-weapon” ways to gathering materials while keeping enemies away during combat as well). I also wish that the “carry over” system consisted of more than just horses from the predecessor’s save data…like how about the oodles of materials I’ve collected as well?

…but this is all from the first few steps in the game. I’ve yet to liberate a region and I haven’t bought anything with the very little Rupees I had since, so hopefully TOTK ends up being an enjoyable experience for me this year.

Only six hours in. Feels fantastic so far. Such an upgrade to BotW.
