Mario + Rabbids creative director Davide Soliani, who worked on the original Kingdom Battle and last year’s Sparks of Hope, has significant interest in working on a new Rayman game.

In an interview with Nintendo Everything, Soliani said he would be “crazy to not take that chance” if given the opportunity. He also told us that from a developer standpoint, it’s the “pinnacle of all the possibilities”.

Part of that interest stems from the fact that he worked on the Game Boy Color version of Rayman way back in 2000.

Here’s what Soliani shared with us when we asked about potentially working on a new Rayman game:

If I had the opportunity, I would be crazy to not take that chance. To be honest, yes. I mean, Rayman is the type of game that has no realistic element. And because there is no realism, everything that you create in the game comes from your fantasy and the fantasy of the team. And so, [everything] from a chair to a table to an enemy to the environment is a form of art, is creating something from scratch. So to me as a developer, it’s the pinnacle of all the possibilities. You can go crazy and create your own stuff, as we did in Sparks of Hope. I think I would be crazy to not take that opportunity if given the chance.

Soliani has also previously mentioned that he’d like to see Rayman in Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. However, that would be up to Nintendo. Worth noting, Rayman was given a trophy in Smash Bros. for Wii U and a spirit in Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Rayman hasn’t seen a new mainline entry in a decade. Rayman Legends, which launched for Wii U in 2013 before later coming to Switch, was highly regarded by fans and critics.
