This particular level of Super Mario World contains a neat easter egg. Eating a green berry will add an additional 20 seconds to the game clock, providing players with more time to complete a level. It’s a well-known fact that the music speed increases once the timer passes by the 100-second mark, so by continuously eating green fruit every when this occurs, you can hear the music speed up to a pretty ridiculous speed. I’m sure that at least a few of you are aware of this, but I thought it was interesting!

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded was announced just a few weeks ago, but it won’t be too long before Japanese gamers can purchase the game. According to V-Jump, the title will be available on October 7. Unlike most DS releases from Square Enix, Re:coded will be priced at ¥5,480. A North American and European release date has yet to be announced, though the game will make its way overseas sometime in the future.

Attendees at the upcoming Comic-Con International 2010 will have an opportunity to experience two of the summer’s most anticipated video game releases. For the first time since 2006, Nintendo of America will be a featured exhibitor at the annual Comic-Con expo, scheduled to take place July 22-25 at the San Diego Convention Center. Visitors will be invited to enjoy hands-on demonstrations of DRAGON QUEST® IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies for the Nintendo DS™ family of portable systems, which launched on July 11, and Metroid™: Other M for the Wii™ system, which launches across North America on Aug. 31. Both games will be available at the Nintendo booth, #2944.

The latest installment in the popular DRAGON QUEST franchise, DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies features deep customization options and remarkable wireless features that let players of all kinds embark on an epic hand-held adventure. Players can choose their own appearance, occupations, companions and special items to aid in their quest, and even connect with friends for cooperative multiplayer fun.

The selection of downloadable games for the WiiWare™ service and the Nintendo DSiWare™ service keeps on growing, this time with a zoological twist. AquaSpace lets Wii™ owners transform their television into a mesmerizing aquarium filled with fascinating fish. Petz® Kittens provides Nintendo DSi™ users with lovable feline companions they can carry everywhere they go. Furry Legends features a cast of unusual creatures who dwell in an eye-popping 3D world. And for those who prefer a more human-oriented challenge Scrabble™ Tools gives puzzle fans a great way to show off those big brains and opposable thumbs.

We’ve also got new arrivals in the “Big Name Games” section of the WarioWare™: D.I.Y. series, which features downloadable microgames from some of the industry’s most talented figures. This week we have some new additions from the Treehouse, Nintendo’s game localization team. New “Big Name Games” are being added every Monday through July 26, all available to download for zero Nintendo DSi Points™ to anyone with broadband Internet access and a copy of either WarioWare: D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase software for the WiiWare service. Visit the Nintendo Channel on your Wii system today to learn more about these games.

Review: I Spy: Universe

When I was a kid, I loved the I Spy series of books. I’ve owned quite a few different editions, including the original I Spy and my personal favorite I Spy: Haunted House. To this day I’ll occasionally go back and glance through them, noticing little things I never did before and getting a little blast of nostalgia from many years back. When I received an e-mail from Scholastic Media offering me a review copy of the game, I certainly couldn’t refuse. After all, what’s better than the content of several I Spy books all in one cartridge? Well, apparently quite a bit…

This information comes from Shu Takumi…

“I can only guess as you would – but perhaps this would be the last…? …I did try out 3DS at E3 and I was flabbergasted to the 3D technology as a long standing fan of the idea since the days of virtual boy. I’d love to see GTPD in 3D but… you know what you have to do for that to come true!”

This isn’t surprising, as the 3DS is just on the horizon. In a few months from now, Nintendo’s new portable will already be out in major territories. In order for Ghost Trick, though, I’m sure the title would need to obtain decent sales.

Thanks to Robert for the tip!
