Nintendo had already announced maintenance for Switch, Wii U, and 3DS taking place on Wednesday / Thursday. Prior to that, Wii U and 3DS will have a specific round of maintenance as well. This has been scheduled for later today (tomorrow in Europe) and may impact certain network services such as online play and rankings.
The times are as follows:
– 5:50 PM PT (April 4) – 7:30 PM PT (April 4)
– 8:50 PM ET (April 4) – 10:30 PM PT (April 4)
– 1:50 AM in the UK (April 5) – 3:30 AM in the UK (April 5)
– 2:50 AM in Europe (April 5) – 4:30 AM in Europe (April 5)
Following tonight’s maintenance, a new section has been added to the Switch eShop. The digital store now has a “Best Sellers” category (“Charts” in Europe) showing the best-selling games. The information is based on software with the most downloads over the past two weeks.
Initial charts are available for North America, Europe, and Japan. We’ve posted all of the information below (in our case we’re specifically posted the UK charts since Europe’s ranking is set per country), and we’ll be adding these charts to our usual lineup just like Wii U and 3DS.
Ahead of its release tomorrow, French YouTube channel Le Creeper Gamer has another 26 minutes of footage up from LEGO City Undercover on Switch. Watch the gameplay below.
V7 Entertainment readied a new trailer for Old Time Hockey. The game isn’t out on Switch yet, but it’s expected sometime in the near future. Check out the video below.
Update (4/3): The Majora’s Mask Link Nendoroid has also been discounted on Amazon. 37 percent off, down to $30 (thanks Jake).
Original (4/2): Amazon has a notable discount on Max Factory’s Metroid: Other M Zero Samus Aran figma. It was originally being sold for $74, but is now down to just under $50, saving you $24. Place an order here if interested.
The Fall Part 2: Unbound was one of a few titles pictured in Nintendo’s big Nindies infographic from its February showcase. Today, developer Over The Moon followed up on that with an official announcement.
The Fall Part 2: Unbound will be on Nintendo’s new console, but plans for Wii U have been scrapped. Over The Moon said the following regarding the decision:
“We’re coming to the Nintendo Switch! This is great news obviously, but it also appears that Nintendo is switching (hah) focus to promoting that platform over the Wii U. For that reason we’ve decided to focus on resources on supporting the Switch instead of the Wii U. As indies, we simply don’t have the luxury of supporting a platform that’s clearly being sunsetted. I was confident that we’d make it in time, but everyone’s moving on to greener pastures and we’d be fools to stay behind.”
We’ve posted today’s lengthy announcement about the game after the break. A new story trailer for The Fall Part 2: Unbound can also be viewed below.
Streets of Rogue developer Matt Dabrowski has expressed interest in a Switch release. When asked about the chances of it happening, Dabrowski said porting it over is “a major possibility” and he’d “like to do it”.
Dabrowski told the fan:
“It’s a major possibility, I’d like to do it (Xbox and Ps4 as well) — need to look further into it, but since SOR is Unity-based, I’m not anticipating major problems on the technical end. Knock wood.”
Interestingly, Streets of Rogue is apparently published by tinyBuild. tinyBuild is already bringing Mr. Shifty to Switch, so perhaps the company would work with Dabrowski on a Switch version of this game as well.
At EGX Rezzed this weekend, Playtonic stopped by for a developer session. The studio played through the title’s opening stages and also talked about making the project in-depth. We’ve posted the full recording below.
Back in February, Nintendo revealed the Diadema Amphitheater stage for Splatoon 2. The series’ official Tumblr page updated today with a final English name for the level: Starfish Mainstage.
We have the following overview:
“This is Starfish Mainstage. It’s an outdoor music venue that hosts concerts for all types of music acts. The now legendary ‘Squid Squad’ played here once, and its considered a bit of a holy site for devotees of rock music. It’s a wonder that all the ink spray doesn’t cause the equipment to short circuit, but I guess they’ve got it figured out.”
In case you missed it, below are a few screenshots showing Starfish Mainstage:
Fire Emblem Echoes’ Japanese launch is still a few weeks away, but the game has somehow managed to leak. Fans are already pouring through all of its files and contents to see what secrets Nintendo packed in.
One interesting discovery concerns amiibo functionality. As previously mentioned, Fire Emblem figures from the Smash Bros. line can be used to summon an Illusory Hero of that character during battle. The Corrin amiibo is included even though Nintendo has yet to say when it will be in stores.
