Game Atelier has pulled the plug on its Kickstarter for Flying Hamster II. The studio is planning a relaunch in the future, which will include “a new approach and lots of improvements”.
Even more notable is that Game Atelier is teaming up with publisher FDG Entertainment to produce the game. Flying Hamster II will initially come to Steam, and “other ports will follow later.” Hopefully that means we’ll still be seeing the title on Nintendo platforms at some point in the future.
As of today, Japanese Club Nintendo members can order new Zelda, Kirby, and Pikmin-based badges. Each costs 250 points.
Nintendo is planning an extensive marketing campaign for Mario Kart 8. The campaign, which has already started through social media, will last through the end of 2014. Online and TV activity will kick off on May 30.
Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager Roger Langford told MCV:
“To herald the launch of the most hotly anticipated Wii U title to date we will have marketing activity pre-launch as well as post-launch moving through the summer and into peak season. For the first time in HD, Mario Kart 8 introduces original course designs that highlight the game’s new anti-gravity feature, which allows players to race upside down or up vertical surfaces. This adds a whole new dimension to the racing.”
Update: Deal has now been price-matched on Amazon.

Wii U and 3DS are both experiencing a partial service outage at the moment. Nintendo says that the issues began to appear at 3 AM PT and have been ongoing. Due to the outage, you may encounter difficulties while using online services, such as the eShop.
