Thanks to the credits for Metroid Prime Remastered, we have new insight into the team behind the release.

While Retro Studios largely handled development, a number of other companies were involved. Iron Galaxy Studios, who previously worked on Switch versions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Diablo III, and Overwatch seemed to play a prominent role during development. Airship Images Limited, Atomhawk Design, CGBot, Gamesim Inc, Liquid Development, Original Force LTD, Shanghai Mineloader Digital Technology, and Zombot Studio are also listed in the credits.

The credits for Metroid Prime Remastered do not actually contain the original credits for the GameCube or Wii game. However, they do contain a broad credit to the teams who worked on those games.

Metroid Prime Remastered was worked on by a number of Retro Studios developers that joined the company following the January 2019 announcement that the team was taking over Metroid Prime 4. At the same time, some of the credited developers for Metroid Prime Remastered left Retro within the past two years. There’s speculation that some of the new hiring Retro has done was to help out with Metroid Prime Remastered. Some examples include lead producer Marisa Palumbo was only with the company between October 2020 and October 2021, senior art director Jhony Ljungstedt who joined in February 2020, and at producer Beverly Garland who started in July 2020.

Metroid Prime Remastered was announced and released for Switch yesterday. The eShop version is live now, with the physical version following on February 22.
