The wait for Backback Hero is over, as the game is launching on Switch today. Jaspel decided to go with a surprise release as part of today’s Indie World Showcase.

A bunch of information can be found in the following overview:

Following a stint in Early Access, Backback Hero is about to receive its full launch and we now have more information about launch timing. It’s been announced that the inventory management roguelike is slated for May 2023.

A “Town” feature is something that fans have been asking for, and this will now be added to the game. This promises “a rewarding progression path for you to expand your item pool and unlock new heroes.” Further mentioned is that “you will transfer your organizational skills from your backpack to the streets to construct a perfect town with the resources you gather on your adventures.”

Thanks to fan support with a Kickstarter campaign, the inventory management roguelike Backpack Hero will be made for Switch.

Jaspel went to the crowdfunding site not too long ago to raise enough funds for the project. Despite seeking $20,000, the campaign closed with well over $200,000. Various stretch goals were reached, including one specifically for Switch. Jaspel is also planning a few more characters, Creative Mode, and more.
