Corcell Technology sent out the first screenshots of its upcoming Switch game AeternoBlade II. Have a look at the various images below.

Corcell confirmed AeternoBlade II for Switch last month. The studio decided to pursue Nintendo’s new console, but scrapped plans for a 3DS version.

AeternoBlade II was announced in late 2015. Corecell Technology originally intended to bring the game to 3DS, but those plans have since been scrapped. It’s now targeted for Switch due to the team incorporating Unreal Engine 4.

In other news, the art team behind AeternoBlade II has resigned. Corecell Technology will be looking for support from the community when it opens an Indiegogo campaign “soon”.

Corecell Technology is developing AeternoBlade II for 3DS and PlayStation Vita, the company announced today. We’ll be seeing it on the eShop “around the end of Q2 2016.”

New to AeternoBlade II is the inclusion of a time manipulation mechanic and more action features. The game will still maintain the “Metroidvania-style” features of the original, including exploration, solving time puzzles, and collecting relics.

AeternoBlade II will star Freyja and Bernard. Here’s an overview of each:

Freyja

After creating a new paradox, her life has changed for the better. But in response to a universal time effect, Freyja has to pick up the AeternoBlade again.

Bernard

A young knight who specializes in heavy weaponry. He isn’t very talkative, but has a kind heart.

AeternoBlade’s launch in the US shouldn’t be too far off. The game’s official Facebook page confirmed earlier today that Nintendo of America approved the title, and all that’s left is determining a release date.

AeternoBlade will launch in North America and Europe on January 14, Corecell Technology has announced.

A demo will be made available ahead of the game’s arrival – specifically December 12. However, the trial will only be put up on the European eShop. Corecell did not explain why North America will be missing out on the demo.
