Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
A feature published on Famitsu’s website late last week details three weapons in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: the Charge Blade, Dual Blades, and Heavy Bowgun. For information about each of these, check out our summary below (translations from Siliconera):
Charge Blade
– Can switch between sword and axe forms
– Lets you charge up energy to unleash powerful attacks
– In Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, the weapon gets a new feature with a shield thrust attack while in Sword mode, and a powerful spin-attack in its Axe form
Dual Blades
– New Archdemon mode in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
– This is the one that activates after Demon mode with a full gauge
_ Archdemon allows you to use your finishing move, but instead of experiencing the normal delay, you’ll be able to keep on attacking with continuous combos
Heavy Bowgun
– Additional bump in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
– This only applies to weapons of six-star rarity and higher
– New Heavy Bowgun feature lets you unlock the weapon’s limits that allows you to use a FireWyvern shot, and then attack with other shots while reloading the FireWyvern ammo
– Weapon’s downtime while waiting for the reload decreases as well

Next week’s issue of Famitsu will have a big scoop, as noted in the magazine’s current edition. At least if the tease leads to a disappointing reveal or a non-Nintendo announcement, we’ll be able to look forward to more coverage of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as well. Famitsu also promises a recommended games feature for readers.
The next issue of Famitsu should arrive during the middle of next week. However, as is usually the case, leaks will occur as early as Tuesday.

Youkai Watch 2 ships 2 million units during opening 3 weeks
Posted on 10 years ago by Jarop(@gamrah) in 3DS, News | 2 Comments
Famitsu are reporting that Level-5’s smash hit Youkai Watch 2 has already shipped 2 million copies in Japan in it’s opening 3 weeks, with the number of sold copies not too far behind that number. The game is currently a Japanese exclusive which makes these numbers even more impressive and poses the question of whether or not these sales are enough to incentivise Level-5 to invest in a Western localisation.

Atlus talks working with SEGA and collaborations
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 3 Comments
Last year, SEGA acquired Atlus and its parent company Index. The two have been working together for several months now; so what’s that like?
Atlus representative director and president Yukio Sugino told Famitsu:
“Compared to Atlus, Sega are on a much bigger scale [as developers], and our respective know-how is completely different. They’re much more advanced than us when it comes to tools and middleware.”
Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka added the following when Famitsu mentioned how both Atlus and SEGA seem pleased with each other and that there will be more from them and their synergy together in the future:
“That’s right. The other day, we held a briefing session with Sugino and myself on Atlus’ side, with [Yakuza producer, Sega CCO Toshiro] Nagoshi and others from Sega to discuss our title line-up for the next three years, where we talked about things such as, ‘Ah, with that kind of lineup, we can do this and that.’”
And how about any collaborations between Atlus and SEGA? Sugino said that the timing for joint projects and such is often difficult, but by knowing what both are working on well ahead of time, it makes it much easier for such collaborations to be possible. It may not be entirely surprising to see collaborations in about three years’ time.
