Paradise Lost: First Contact

Paradise Lost: First Contact was funded on Kickstarter over four years ago. Although it still hasn’t released, Asthree Works hasn’t ceased development.

We also have confirmation that Paradise Lost: First Contact is no longer planned for Wii U. Asthree Works says “Switch will be the first console version of the game.” Additionally, those who originally backed the project on Wii U will be moved over to Switch.

Asthree Works has shared a 9-minute pre-alpha gameplay video for Paradise Lost: First Contact. Check it out below.

Today’s video comes as part of a lengthy Paradise Lost Kickstarter update. Read it in full here.

Asthree Works has decided to push back Paradise Lost: First Contact to mid-2015. The game was originally slated for this year.

Why the delay? Asthree Works explained in a Kickstarter update that roughly 80 percent of the animations were remade and the team hopes to achieve “balanced core mechanics that could evolve naturally within the player’s experience and type of play. That requires tons of hours of testing and repeating / changing puzzles and situations constantly… we have areas with endless possibilities to go through.”

Yet another cameo has been confirmed for Hex Heroes. Today, Prismatic Games announced a collaboration with Asthree Works to include Subject W from Paradise Lost.

Prismatic Games is also kicking off a pair of contests for Hex Heroes. You can find information about that on the Kickstarter page here.

Paradise Lost: First Contact is in its final day on Kickstarter. You can check out the project here.

Paradise Lost: First Contact is officially making its way to Wii U. Originally promised through a stretch goal on Kickstarter, developer Asthree Works has instead decided to guarantee the game for Nintendo’s console regardless of funding. If the campaign does manage to reach $230,000, Paradise Lost come to Wii U on day one rather than follow the PC, Mac, and Linux versions.

It’s also worth mentioning that Paradise Lost’s Kickstarter goal was recently met. Over $70,000 has been raised with 16 days to go.

Paradise Lost: First Contact has a chance of coming to Wii U. If the Kickstarter manages to reach $250,000 in funding, it’ll be guaranteed a release on Nintendo’s platform. There would be plans to offer specific controls for the GamePad.

Paradise Lost: First Contact features side-scrolling stealth, puzzles, and even a tinge of horror. The Kickstarter campaign itself needs to reach $70,000 in order to be funded. It’ll have until December 1 to do so.
