Splatoon 3

Splatoon 3 has been off to a strong start worldwide, but in Japan, the game has really been dominating. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa spoke about why the game’s initial sales were higher than expected in the region during a financial results briefing Q&A this week.

Furukawa brought up the “market environment” that picked up during the summer plus the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak as well as releases like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby’s Dream Buffet, and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass. It also sounds like the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere was especially a hit in Japan.

According to Furukawa:

Splatoon 3 Pokemon Splatfest

Original (10/7): A special Pokemon Scarlet and Violet-themed Splatfest has just been announced for Splatoon 3. The event will be held starting on November 11 at 4 PM PT and runs through the same time on November 13.

The Splatfest theme asks which first partner Pokemon players would choose. They can side with Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type.

A new physical My Nintendo reward has just been added in North America in celebration of the upcoming Splatoon 3 x Pokemon Splatfest. Starting today, members can claim a keychain set. The designs are for Grass-type, Fire-type, and Water-type with silhouettes for Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito.

The set includes three fresh acrylic keychains. You can clip theme to your keys or just about anything else you can think of. The individual keychain size is 2.5” x 1.75” while the package size is 7.5” x 7.5”.

Splatoon 3 has just received another update meant to repair the issues caused by the 1.2.0 update that dropped a few days ago. To be more specific, the problems introduced with the Rainmaker game type have been resolved, and as such it has been added back into Anarchy Battle rotations. The update also addresses an issue regarding Super Jump landing points when a teammate using an Inkjet or Zipcaster would go into an Inkrail.

Here are the patch notes for the update:

Splatoon 3 Rainmaker Anarchy Battle pulled

If you’re a Splatoon 3 player interested in playing Rainmaker in Anarchy Battle, you’ll be out of luck for a bit. Nintendo has confirmed that the mode has been temporarily pulled.

The company said on social media that Rainmaker was taken out from the rotation in Anarchy Battle. This is due to a bug that can cause the score counter to immediately go to one when touching a checkpoint. Thankfully Nintendo is on the case, and an update will be distributed soon to address the situation. The company also apologized for any inconvenience caused.

Splatoon 3 update 1.2.0

Nintendo has announced a major update for Splatoon 3, which will bring the game to version 1.2.0. Players will be able to access it on October 25, 2022.

Nintendo is promising improvements to data transfer between players, changes to Splatfest and multiplayer, and support for the new amiibo. A huge amount of fixes are planned, too.

Below are the full patch notes for the Splatoon 3 version 1.2.0 update:
