Splatoon 3

A new Splatoon 3 update just dropped, with Nintendo issuing version 1.1.1.

This is a notable patch as there are changes and fixes to various aspects of the game. Splatfests, player controls, multiplayer, Salmon Run, and single-player have all been touched up in one way or another.

One aspect worth pointing to specifically is that Nintendo adjusted the rate of Tricolor Battle occurrence and from the defending team’s perspective, they will trigger somewhat less frequently than before. However, Nintendo says the change is “temporary”.

The full patch notes for the Splatoon 3 version 1.1.1 update are as follows:

Splatoon 3 Splatfest

Splatoon 3 has revealed its first Splatfest. For the theme, players are asked what they would bring to a deserted island: gear, grub, or fun.

The Splatfest kicks off on September 23 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. It will end on September 25 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET.

Splatoon 3 has taken the crown as Japan’s fastest-selling game of all time.

That news follows Nintendo’s announcement earlier today that the title has sold 3.45 million copies in the region in just three days. The company said this is the highest domestic sales level for any Switch game within that time period, but we now know that applies to all platforms as well.

Splatoon 3 sales

Splatoon 3 domestic sales have surpassed 3.45 million units in its first three days on the market, Nintendo has announced. That’s the highest domestic sales level for any Switch game within that timeframe.

Nintendo’s announcement seems to be based on Japanese sales only, so Splatoon 3’s total should be higher than this amount worldwide.

Today’s news is based on Nintendo’s own internal numbers. It includes both packaged and downloadable versions.

Nintendo has confirmed that it’s working on a patch for Splatoon 3, which will address a loading issue in which players can get stuck on a black screen and more.

This particular problem may happen when starting up the game for the first time. Nintendo has provided a workaround for the time being, with players advised to follow the steps below:
