Cat Quest The Fur-tastic Trilogy physical

Cat Quest III did come to Switch physically at launch, but very soon fans can get their hands on an additional boxed release known as The Fur-tastic Trilogy.

You’ll actually be getting the entire franchise here. Cat Quest, Cat Quest II, and Cat Quest III will all be included on a single cartridge. Additionally, you’ll be provided with a digital art book and vinyl sticker as bonuses.

[Review] Cat Quest III

System: Switch
Release date: August 8, 2024
Developer: The Gentlebros
Publisher: Kepler Interactive

We have had so many cat-focused indie games over the last decade that it could practically be a genre unto itself, but few are as charming, engaging, or downright fun, as Cat Quest. The simplistic yet punchy combat, tightly-packed but unrestricted open world, and overbearing onslaught of feline related puns all combine to make it an experience that has always left me wanting more. Developer The Gentlebros have now graced us with a third installment, Cat Quest III, which continues to improve upon the established formula and takes it into uncharted waters as we set sail on a swashbuckling pirate (or should that be “Pi-rat”?) adventure.

Cat Quest III characters

Cat Quest III received its latest trailer today highlighting some of the game’s characters. We’re able to see Mama Milka (Milky Barrel tavern owner), Kidd Cat (blacksmith), Captain Cappey (your guide), Captain Meowtallika (enemy), and Captain Takomeouki (enemy).

For those that need a refresher, here’s some information about the title:

Cat Quest III release date

Cat Quest III just received a release date from the Indie World Showcase. On Switch, it launches on August 8, 2024.

While the title is a few months out, a demo for Cat Quest III launches today.

Cat Quest III opening movie

The GentleBros provided a new look at Cat Quest III. Rather than focusing on gameplay, the studio shared the official opening movie – hopefully a sign that it will be launching sooner rather than later.

Here’s an overview for those that need a refresher:

cat quest ii infinity update

A notable patch has arrived in Cat Quest II, with publisher PQube and developer The GentleBros preparing the “Infinity Update“, or version 1.7.7. It’s highlighted by the addition of the Infinity Dungeon, featuring tough enemies and a new boss. Once defeated, players can receive the Dark Old Master Gear Set.

Below are the full patch notes for Cat Quest II’s new Infinity Update:

Cat Quest II - "Mew World Update"

Publisher PQube and developer The Gentlebros have announced that a “Mew World Update” is now live for Cat Quest II. It includes many quality of life changes – some of which will be implemented straight away, while the Mew Game mode and its meowdifiers will require you to have finished the game once already.

Also announced today is that the Cat Quest franchise has now sold over 1.3 million units worldwide.

Here’s a full rundown of the Mew World Update and a trailer:

The original Cat Quest was sold physically on Switch, but Cat Quest 2 has yet to receive the same treatment. That will be changing soon, as a retailer listing has revealed a new physical bundle containing both titles.

UK retailer Base indicates that the Cat Quest + Cat Quest II Pawsome Pack is scheduled for May 22. A price of £49.99 is listed, but can be pre-ordered for about half of that.

We have a look at the Cat Quest + Cat Quest II Pawsome Pack boxart above.
