Shuhei Yoshida

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has always spoken highly of Nintendo, so it’s no surprise that he once again had some positive words to share when talking about Switch in a new interview.

While talking with DigitalSpy about the console, Yoshida noted:

“I think it’s a very unique system. It’s very interesting that they’ve designed the system to work well with more conventional games in terms of inputs and buttons. So I think it’s good for core gamers and their marketing message focused on that.”

Aside from that, Yoshida also said that he believes Nintendo is “going to cover a new market for themselves” when asked if he views the big N as competition with regard to hardware sales.

Plenty of people are looking forward to Zelda: Breath of the Wild… including Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida. During a PlayStation live stream yesterday, Yoshida mentioned the adventure game as one he’s very excited about.

Yoshida said:

“I just played Zelda! The new Zelda game. You know, open world, and hunting. And I had a bizarre feel, this feels like Horizon. This is a epic, huge game. I can not wait to play Zelda again when it comes out.”

Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios, has never backed away from talking about the Wii U. In 2013 for instance, he spoke highly of Super Mario 3D World and had praise for the console in general.

Yoshida actually said during a session at EGX 2015 today that the Wii U is his favorite non-Sony console. His reasoning? Because he plays a bunch of Wii U games with his daughters.

Sony’s lovable executive Shuhei Yoshida has been banned from Miiverse. And this has actually happened not once, but twice.

Yoshida told Engadget that his bans came about for including his Twitter account in his Miiverse profile and for subtly promoting PlayStation.

He said:

“The first time was because I had my Twitter account in my profile and that’s against the rules,” he says. “The second time is because I wrote, ‘I love PS.’ You’re not supposed to promote a commercial product in MiiVerse, so they correctly interpreted ‘PS’ as ‘PlayStation,'” he says with a laugh.

During an appearance on the Japanese multi-media internet talk show Kurokawa Juku, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida shared more kind words for Wii U as well as Super Mario 3D World.

Yoshida first told the audience that he owns two Wii U consoles. He then had some kind words for Mario 3D World, stating:

“The latest Mario game is really good, too. I think the Wii U is just getting started.”

Yoshida ended with the following:

“People can get together and enjoy [the Wii U], it’s got plenty of wonderful games. Nintendo helps raise and teaches the fun of games to people just starting out. I think that’s a very important thing in this industry.”

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida had a few words to share about the Wii U and Nintendo and general while speaking with IGN during a recent interview.

Regarding Wii U, Yoshida admitted that he has two consoles and actively plays the system with his daughters. He also said Nintendo’s messaging was initially “a bit confusing”, though they now seem to be heading back on track.

Yoshida later went on to discuss the importance of Nintendo doing well in the industry. He believes the Big N and Sony fall under the same group, and with tablet/mobile games on the rise, Yoshida wants “Nintendo to be very successful to help induct as many consumers who like to play games with controllers”.

You can find Yoshida’s full comments below (or in the video above at the 15-minute mark).
