CM4 contest winners!

Posted on 13 years ago by (@NE_Austin) in Features | 0 comments

I have to keep this real brief, because I am way too busy today (tonight*), but I have selected out CM4 contest winners! Here’s what we’ve got:

1st Place: Jaime Berco (3 prizes)
2nd Place: Benjamin Backhand (2 prizes)
3rd Place: Christian Amaya (1 prize)

Each of you gets your choice of Wiimote covers, DSi covers, DSi XL covers, or a 3DS cover, all courtesy of our friends at CM4! 1st place selects their choices first, 2nd places second, etc etc. If you didn’t win but you’re still interested in purchasing some Catalyst accessories for Wii, DSi, DSi XL and 3DS, you can buy some at their website! Winners should e-mail me ([email protected]) so we can sort out what you’ve won! If I don’t receive an e-mail within two weeks, your prize automatically goes to some other random person on the list, so make sure you stay on top of it!

Thanks so much to everyone who participated, and thanks to all those folks at CM4!

I only include the images that actually made sense and didn’t just have a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo in them. You can check out all the images here if you’re one of those “intellectual” types. 😛

Enjoy!

If you’re a patient reader, check out the full PDF here. If you’d rather just get the bulletpoints, here’s what I gather from it:

– ‘Parent’ device and ‘Child’ devices
– ‘Child’ device connects to ‘Parent’ devices to stream data/games
– ‘Child’ device can communicate with multiple ‘Parent’ devices, receive identification date
– A sort of “GBA+Gamecube” without the cords
– ‘Child’ device houses game cartridge, can be detached from ‘Parent’ device
– ‘Child’ device can send requests to ‘Parent’ devices for data transfers
– Multiple ‘Child’ devices meant to be used at the same time in constant communication
– Has a sort of ‘Download Play’ option
– Uses Bluetooth for communication
– Mario Kart and F-Zero are mentioned multiple times throughout the patent
– Uses very confusing language, such as ‘thereby’, ‘wherein’, etc (ie, ‘patent speak’ that makes it real hard to read)

Okay, maybe I sort of just added that last one for kicks. The point here is that we’ve essentially confirmed a lot of the speculation that a 3DS-like device would be used to control CafĂ©, and can break off from being just a controller to play games on its own. Note that I got kind of bored reading all of that confusing patent-speak, so if you go through and read it yourself, post any info I missed here!

Of course, take all patents with a grain of salt- just because Nintendo patented it, doesn’t mean it’ll for sure happen! We’ll find out all the details at E3…

I don’t believe that these are real any more than I believe that Miyamoto will show up at my house and personally ferry me away to E3 to play the ‘Wii 2’, but SOMEONE is saying they’re real, and I think they’re interesting enough to post! Even if Valay does hate all these baseless rumors… 😉

What would you guys think of this sort of design for Project Café?

French gaming site GameBlog had an interview with Nintendo-guru Shigeru Miyamoto, and in it they presented him a series of Mario figurines, after which Miyamoto had something to say about the new Mario 3DS game.

“I promise to do everything to deliver your new Mario this year!”

While this is hardly confirmation of the game coming (remember that Skyward Sword was supposed to come out last year), it’s fairly good news considering it means that there is a very fantastic 3DS line-up for this year, including Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, Mario Kart, and Mario 3DS! Hopefully Miyamoto’s words hold true…

Good ol’ Twitter is always the host of teases these days, and Project CafĂ© is no exception. Here’s a summary of what Nintendo Life has had to say about the new hardware:

“All we can say so far is: don’t believe everything you read online. Other than from us, of course. May hear solid details next week
”

In addition, they basically seem to discredit the name ‘Project CafĂ©’ and say that it would be stupid for Nintendo to have a touch screen on their controller. Or perhaps they’re hinting that the DS will be the controller. I don’t even know anymore…

“Nintendo is a Japanese company. Why would a secret project have a French name?”

“Nintendo has sold more handheld consoles than anyone. Why have a controller with a screen in? Why not use DS?”

After one of their tweety bird followers asked them how significant the details they knew were, all Nintendo Life had to say was this:

“Significant enough that we can’t reveal what they are.”

And lastly, look at this conversation between their tweety bird and some tweety bird follower of theirs:

Looking for more news about Project CafĂ©? Well, we may just have the answer for you. Next week is Nintendo’s annual investor’s meeting, and pretty much every year we get new information out of it, so I would be surprised if there wasn’t at least a mention of this “Project CafĂ©” nonsense that everyone is all hot and bothered about.

Watch out for it on April 25th!

Another Monday come and gone! I hope it wasn’t too rough for any of you, and if it was, hopefully this video can either put you in a better mood, or show you that at least you’re not me.

Happy gaming this week, folks!
