When will Rollercoaster Tycoon 3D be hitting store shelves? That’s the million dollar question of the day. Based on updated listings, it could be delayed to August or even the fall.

Amazon’s page for the game says Rollercoaster Tycoon 3D will be out on August 28. Meanwhile, Nintendo’s site is listing a Fall 2012 launch.

Atari hasn’t announced a new, final release date, but it seems that RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D won’t be available for awhile.

According to Natsume’s Twitter, the company will be making an announcement within the next few days. Three hints have been provided thus far.

Natsume has confirmed that the announcement contains a “celebration”, is related to an existing series, and is based on a franchise that has seen three entries released previously.

Rune Factory IV is one possibility. The game is set to launch in Japan in a couple of months, so Natsume could be preparing a localization announcement.

That’s just one of many possibilities. We’ll be receiving the announcement soon.

With the popularity of mobile and social games as well as a slight de-emphasis on boxed titles, some would argue that E3 isn’t as important as it once was. Furthermore, these doubters may say that the expo is quickly becoming irrelevant.

E3 organiser ESA obviously isn’t in this camp. SVP Rich Taylor, when approached about his thoughts about the trade show becoming irrelevant, responded by explaining that this year’s show is “going to be one of the strongest shows we’ve had in a long time.” He added, “The industry will change and we will change with it.”

Taylor’s full comments are as follows:

“I disagree with broad declarations that a show which hasn’t occurred yet is irrelevant. Folks haven’t even seen what’s going to take place. The fact that Zynga and GREE are going to be there is reflective of a show that is very much relevant. These firms are talking specifically about mobile and social. What happens in LA will be heard around the globe and echo around for the months to follow. If E3 was losing relevancy we’d be having a fire sale on exhibit space, but it is the opposite, we are packed to the gills. I think it’s going to be one of the strongest shows we’ve had in a long time. The industry will change and we will change with it.”

Metro: Last Light was given a Q1 2013 date by THQ nearly two weeks ago. But whereas the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions will all be launching on the same day, the Wii U edition won’t be ready until later in the year.

When asked about the Wii U version of Last Light, head of senior communications Huw Beynon said the following:

“We’ve been working on the Wii U version. At the moment we’re focusing on current-gen or existing platforms and PC, so it’s unlikely that the Wii U verson will come out at the same time as those formats.”
