Famitsu published a first review of Bravely Second in the magazine’s latest issue. As we mentioned a few days back, the game received a total of 36 / 40, with individual scores of 9, 9, 9, and 9 from four different reviewers.

We now have a complete translation of the verdicts from Famitsu’s review. For the full transcript, head past the break.

Reviewer 1 – 9

Based on things like an enormous user survey, the thoroughly brushed up system of Bravely Default is very pleasant and fun. The story takes place in an adjoining land compared to the previous game. The story is easy to understand and sufficiently fun even if you started straight from this game. A system named “Bravely Second”, in which all but your characters are frozen in time, raises the level of freedom and joins the series’ specialties of “Brave” and “Default”.

Reviewer 2 – 9

Things like the job system and the atmosphere remind of the old RPGs and the battles utilizing “Brave” and “Bravely Second” give a reason to use one’s head. It is welcome that there is an Auto Battle feature which allows commands to be registered and a My Set feature allows saving job and ability combinations, so troublesome sections are reduced as much as possible. It’s nice that you can just concentrate on taking advantage of the characteristic system of this game.

Reviewer 3 – 9

Although the system is roughly the same as in the previous game and it doesn’t feel fresh, the level of perfection is high so fans and new player alike should welcome it with open arms. I feel “Bravely Second” is a useful function to have, but the game would be fine without it. Auto Battle and changing the enemy encounter rate matches well the way of playing on a mobile device. Although the feel of the music has changed, I’m happy that previous masterpieces like Baby Bird are effectively mixed in.

Reviewer 4 – 9

Similar to the previous game, you can adventure on a three dimensional field while listening to background music filled with ambition. You can enjoy the storyline while troubling your brain with character customization which gives more freedom bit by bit. Relationships between old and new characters are perfect so all conversation events are worth noticing. All kinds of extra elements which you can experience through communication functions are fun and you can probably use the game as a full communication tool, too.
