Capcom discusses Monster Hunter Frontier G’s new release

New versions of Monster Hunter Frontier G were announced in this week’s Famitsu. Previously released on the Xbox 360 and PC in Japan, the online title is now heading to the Wii U and PlayStation 3.

Director Tatsumi Kimoto and producer Kazunori Sugiura chatted about Monster Hunter Frontier G with Famitsu to discuss where Capcom is taking the game with these new platforms.

First, Kimoto provided the following overview:

“The biggest asset of MHFG is how it provides a continually-evolving hunting experience for you to enjoy through its regularly large-scale updates. That’s a unique attraction, the way the game changes with each update through its new monsters, weapons, and armor. With MHFG being online only, you can enjoy the game with hunters from all across the country, and we provide a wealth of content that lets you interact and work together with them. For someone just starting, it’s packed with so much content that you’ll never be able to digest it all.”

Kimoto next spoke about how Capcom intends to keep the experience the same across all versions. Other than separate servers, all platforms contain the same content.

“It’s exactly the same content. We’re implementing the ‘G3’ large-scale update on the current service this fall, so the PS3 and Wii U versions will kick off from post-G3. In addition, we’re also considering functions that are unique to each platform, including things like trophies [for the PS3].”

Lastly, producer Kazunori Sugiura teased the possibility of implementing unique functionality with the GamePad, and perhaps getting the 3DS involved:

“As for the Wii U version, while we can’t make any guarantees, we’re discussing something fun that we could do with the Wii U GamePad or Nintendo 3DS.”
