General Nintendo

This event should begin in about 15 minutes.

This information comes from Nintendo of America’s Twitter account…

“We have an exciting guest tweeting tomorrow. Be on the lookout for tweets from the #Regginator himself!”

Could this be related to Nintendo’s 3DS presentation that will be taking place in a few hours? Will Nintendo of America have some news of their own? Or will Reggie be tweeting just for the heck of it?!

Man, I wish things like this happened on Nintendo’s end more often. You guys remember that old 80s movie where the the little kid won the NES gaming competition? I don’t remember what it was called, but man, that was awesome.

Anyway, Nintendo is hosting a one-time event in Melbourne, Australia where players compete to win a shiny new 3DS and a copy of the unreleased Mario Kart 7. Here are all the details:

– Happening on November 5th (Saturday) in Melbourne
– Held at The Nintendo Experience, EB Games, 67 Swanston St
– 150 player maximum
– Regristration opens at 10AM, goes until 4PM
– Two age divisions: Under 12 and Over 13
– Play one track from every Mario Kart game (7 included)
– Times from all the tracks will be added together, the quickest overall winning the 3DS and MK7

If you want more details about which tracks you’ll be playing on (looks like it’s Mario Circuit on each game), head over to Nintendo’s website and check out all of the official rules and prizes and levels and stuff. Best of luck to anyone who enters!

How cool is this?! Surely some of you remember the Game Boy Color title Toki Tori. It was also re-released for WiiWare a few years ago. The game is getting a sequel, and while we don’t know the specific platforms it’s coming to, we do know that it’ll be available on at least one Nintendo download shop.

Amersfoort – October 18th 2011 – Exactly ten years after the release of Toki Tori for Game Boy Color, Dutch game developer Two Tribes announces the development of the long-awaited sequel.

Toki Tori 2 will see Two Tribes’ poultry mascot character return in a completely new adventure, developed from the ground up for today’s players and technology. The initial release will be through Steam for PC and Mac in the spring of 2012. Continuing the tradition of Two Tribes to support multiple platforms, subsequent releases on downloadable stores from Apple, Nintendo and more are planned.

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo wants to inspire kids across North America to discover their inner superheroes with some help from the iconic Kirby™ video game character. Starting today, kids who visit http://kirby.nintendo.com/superability will be invited to create drawings and descriptions of their dream Super Abilities, taking inspiration from Kirby’s Super Abilities in the new Kirby’s Return to Dream Land™ game for the Wii™ system. Their imaginative creations can be submitted to Nintendo and may be featured as part of a project to aid Starlight Children’s Foundation™.

Launching exclusively for the Wii console on Oct. 24, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land features five new Super Abilities that are activated when the heroic Kirby inhales special enemy characters. For example, the Flare Beam Super Ability allows Kirby to deploy a ball of energy that can wipe out an entire screen’s worth of foes. Visitors to the site at http://kirby.nintendo.com/superability can download a Kirby coloring sheet and come up with their own Super Ability that they would use to help others. For added inspiration, kids can visit The Stacks at http://scholastic.com/stacks and take a “What’s Your Super Ability?” quiz. Participants can answer questions to determine which of the Super Abilities featured in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land would suit them best.
