In the latest edition of V Jump, the magazine’s preview page briefly presents readers with a new title: Project V. Square Enix and Shonen Jump are partnering together to develop the title.

“Square Enix [and V Jump] begin ‘Project V’, which will create a next-generation blockbuster! Perhaps your ideas will become reality?!”

The DS is a reasonable candidate the game’s release, but we’ll just have to wait for further details to emerge.

Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream seems to be teasing some Fire Emblem news for its next issue. Though all of this is just a rumor at this point, the June edition of the magazine says that fans of Fire Emblem should “look forward to the next issue.”

“There has been no information about a new game for a while, but… (Fire) Emblem fans, look forward to the next issue.”

As you can see, Nintendo Dream does not explicitly note that a new game will be revealed, but really, what else can it be? Additionally (though this may or may not be related), there is a brief blurb that states, “And the blockbuster game is revealed…!?” that also appears in the magazine. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon was the last title in the series to be released in Japan, and that was around eight months ago. The franchise’s 20th anniversary is quickly approaching, so perhaps Intelligent Systems is busy developing a new game in honor of that occasion.

A 50-year-old man was arrested today for beating his 6-year-old son due to a poor video game performance. There’s no word yet if anything else provoked the father’s actions. Terry Taulbee now resides in a county jail and has received a domestic violence charge. Taulbee was said to have bruised his son in the lower back, buttocks, and hand. Obviously, the boy has been suffering from a good amount of pain, especially on his hand which has swelled. According to the son’s mother, Taulbee simply became angry because his boy was not playing well while playing a video game.

SEGA has opened up a teaser site for a new Shining Force title. Currently, there isn’t too much that can be seen, but page does indicate that some news will be released on April 17. It’s more than possible that this is a Nintendo-related announcement, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Small update: Added video

Uh oh. Looks like Cammie Dunaway, NOA’s executive VP of sales and marketing confirmed that she’ll take the stage at this year’s E3 again. On the bright side, she promises that we won’t see any antics this year like attempting to snowboard.

Here’s Ms. Dunaway addressing why Nintendo fans should be excited about E3:

“Well, because, I’m going to be up on stage presenting, something that your fans ought to love. But I’m not gonna snowboard, I’m not gonna show my mother’s day card. I’m just going to talk about the games.”

There was one other detail that Cammie touched upon, again about E3. I’m not too sure if she was cut off, but when asked if there was anything she could say about E3, she simply shrugged her shoulders said, “All I can say is I hope we have something.”

This comes once again from Reggie, on the latest episode of GameTrailers TV…

“We haven’t announced a launch date, maybe we’ll do that at E3 [The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks]. You know, everyone wants to know what we’re going to announce at E3 and my answer is, come to E3 and you’ll see…From Nintendo’s perspective, we always go into E3 with a very high bar wanting to satisfy not only the core fans but also ourselves. We’re hoping to do a much better job this year. You’ll have to see for yourself.”

Towards the end of the show, Reggie also added in this comment:

“And all of your fans will love it [E3]. We can guarantee that.”

25-year-old Clinton Echols was taken into custody on Thursday under suspicion that he shot his friend, Luis Urbina, while playing a war video game. Echols was initially taken in for questioning on Wednesday and was later released, but as the story unraveled, police arrested the man. Echols failed to call the police immediately and sadly, by the time assistance arrived, it was too late to save Urbina. This, coupled with other dubious claims in Echols’ explanation led to his arrest. Echols said that he was showing off his gun while the two were playing video games, though it was accidentally fired and resulted in a bullet hitting his friend in the chest.

It is unclear at this time if video games took on a more prominent role than Echolos was willing to let on, if it really was an accidental shooting, or something else entirely. An autopsy was scheduled for Echols’ body on Thursday and could lead to further answers. Both men were sailors and served on the USS Ronald Reagan.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced today that EA is making an equity investment in Stupid Fun Club, Will Wright’s new adventure. Stupid Fun Club is an entertainment think tank developing new Intellectual Properties to be deployed across multiple fronts including video games, movies, television, the internet, and toys. Will Wright is leaving EA to run Stupid Fun Club.

EA and Will each own equal percentages of Stupid Fun Club and are the principal shareholders. In addition, EA has the right to develop game concepts that spring from Stupid Fun Club projects. Will Wright is represented by Creative Artists Agency.
