Game Freak not planning balance patches for Pokemon X/Y
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News | 0 comments
Game Freak does not intend to patch Pokemon X/Y to make the games more balanced.
According to director Junichi Masuda, the team worked extensively on the game’s balance, “and we think we have it perfect”. Therefore, updates are unlikely to be introduced.
Masuda told DigitalSpy:
“We don’t really plan to release any kind of updates to change the balance. Of course, we think we have it perfect this time, but thought that before and depending on certain move combinations. For example, at points a lot of people used the Metal Grass Pokemon because they were so strong – and everyone is using that Pokemon. Something like that could happen, and we think we have it perfect, and we don’t plan to release any kind of balance changes.”
“We spent a lot of time working on getting this balance right, but of course we’re not going to be able to know everything’s perfect until the games are in players’ hands and they’re coming up with new strategics and combo. I’m really excited to see what strategies players come up with in the World Championships next year in Washington DC, to see if we’re done it right.”
“We know people really like these Pokemon. If we released a patch to make them weaker, for example, it’s going to disappoint a lot of people.”

Not one, but two James Bond games are on the way.
System 3 has first announced James Pond: Codename Robocod – a remake of the original. It’s due out early next year on a whole bunch of platforms, including the Wii U and 3DS.
On consoles and handhelds, Codename Robocod will be a re-imagining of the original. You can expect overhauled visuals and audio “built from the ground up for each format”.
In other news, the promised Kickstarter for a brand new James Pond has launched. You can find it here. The team is looking to raise £100,000, and systems are included as stretch goals.
