Over the past several weeks, there have been rumblings of Level-5 and Capcom working together. Today, we know what the two companies have creating. Level-5 announced at their “Vision” event a short while ago that Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton will be starring in the same title, Professor vs. Gyakuten Saiban.

– Game’s biggest feature is that it’s for the 3DS
– Story set one year after Layton meets Luke
– Young Layton will be shown in the game
– Theme song in the trailer done by Yuming (famous singer/songwriter in Japan)
– Everything was scrapped, started over midway through development
– Two timelines in the game: Present Professor Layton and Young Layton (college years)
– Puzzles supervised by Akira Tago.
– New puzzle to be distributed every day via Wi-Fi for the first year of the game’s release
– Theme song is “Mysterious Flower”
– Releasing Spring 2011 in Japan
– Everything in 3D, which includes the hand-drawn anime
– Animations are motion captured
– Town scenes are all in 3D, look around and people move
– Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino thinks players will be surprised even with the game’s opening video

– “Yume no Sekai” (“Dream World”) uses the Magic Master book that comes with the game
– Can be transported to Dream World at an inn in town
– Different gimmicks in Dream World
– Use the magic book to complete the gimmicks
– Complete puzzles by doing what you see on screen and matching that with your book
– Many puzzles in Dream World
– Will need to figure out a riddle or puzzle even when trying to open a treasure box
– Raise “Imagine” in the game
– Imagine are animals that can be captured and raised to be used in battle
– Imagine can evolve
– Menu driven battles
– Move characters around in battle, can avoid attacks and buff the effects of your own
– Positions of the Imagine in battle are important
– Better to put strongest characters in the front, move them to the back if they’re injured
– Over 350 Imagine
– “Tabi suru Tamago” (“Traveling Egg”) system in the game
– This system carries your name/your location/a small message
– Collect eggs and receive items when you use Tag mode
– You decide whether to send an egg off on a journey or break it
– Whatever is inside the egg will grow if you send it off on a journey
– Eggs have levels
– Need to have a certain number of egg points to break higher level eggs
– Casino in the game, includes slots and card games
– Ridable vehicles (includes ships)
– Download items/quests via Wi-Fi
– This will happen for a year
– Game costs 6800 yen
