“We took it to Activision and Nintendo and everyone loved it. But the big problem was that although the game itself was pretty small in terms of file size, it really needed a lot of rewriteable flash memory to store all the save games. There was no cartridge available at the time for Nintendo DS that could support that save game file size the game needed…When we started working with the DSi platform it became immediately clear that it’s the perfect platform for Mixed Messages. DSiWare was the perfect service to get the game out to everyone…Since you take turns alternating writing sentences and drawing pictures, it works the best when you have an odd number of players,” he said. “If you have an even number of players, the game auto generates a really funny starter sentence from a database of nouns, verbs and phrases…We had an internal site that had dozens of game sessions posted and it was just hilarious to read – and even more fun playing it at lunch time or when were out to dinner. So it seemed like it would be great if we could share it with the world.” – Karthik Bala, CEO of Vicarious Visions

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– When you hear a catchy tune, you probably find yourself tapping your fingers in rhythm to the beat. If you can do that, you’ll be a natural for Rhythm Heaven™, a new game that is now available for the portable Nintendo DS™ system. Rhythm Heaven asks you to tap, hold and flick your stylus on the touch screen as you keep the beat in more than 50 rhythm-based mini-games. It’s hard not to crack a smile as you enjoy the game’s unique visual style and infectious game play.

“Rhythm Heaven represents another example of how Nintendo creates new experiences that surprise and delight people,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The game exudes a simple charm and captures an endearing quality that makes it very appealing to all types of players.”

It appears as though the both MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill may be performing better than originally anticipated. Overkill sold just 45,000 units in February according to NPD numbers and MadWorld was absent from various sales charts, leading many to believe that both games were falling short. However, Sean Ratcliffe, vice president of marketing at Sega of America, has confirmed otherwise.

“House of the Dead has done very well and has absolutely met our expectations. The first set of data for Mad World is very encouraging, as well…If it resonates with the audience, yes, we absolutely want to make that into a franchise [MadWorld]. I think it’s unique, and there are many aspects of that game which are sort of pushing boundaries. And it’s just great fun.”

Deep in the forest there was a pretty little bakery with a bright red roof.

The name of the shop was Happy Bakery.

The baker was a pretty little girl called Rue, with such a passion for bread that even her hair looked like a fluffy bread roll! But Rue has been finding it hard to manage the shop all by herself, so recently she’s decided she needs a helping hand.

“If only there was someone who loved bread as much as me…”

“A bunch of third parties working on things. I think Square Enix has some stuff coming out.” – David Young, Assistant PR Manager at Nintendo

Square Enix hasn’t announced anything specifically for DSiWare, but it appears they’re making a push towards the service. Perhaps we’ll see some Final Fantasy titles head to the DSi Shop in the future.

“Currently the plan is purely Olympic Games, and it would be wrong of me to speculate about whether there is going to be Mario & Sonic, this, that, or the other.” – Sean Ratcliffe, vice president of marketing at Sega of America

I know a lot of you guys would love to see Mario & Sonic team up in something other than the Olympics. Is there any particular genre any of you would like to see the two take part in together?
