Sniper Elite V2 officially announced for Wii U

505 Games has shared the first details on Sniper Elite V2 for Wii U.
The shooter will feature new controls as well as “a level of interactivity only possible with the Wii U GamePad touch screen”.
505 also provided the following information:
“Players will enjoy the same thrilling, visceral experience as they guide American OSS agent Karl Fairburne around historical locations throughout Berlin and attempt to unravel the mysteries and dangers of the German V-2 rocket program but now with even greater tactical depth and flexibility thanks to brand new functionality through the GamePad – tag enemies and booby-traps, track enemy locations and activity, even monitor the blast radius of planted explosives – all with a glance at the touch screen and without leaving the battlefield for even a second.”
Sniper Elite V2 will also have the standard gameplay from the original release. It’ll feature the “kill cam” from the first Sniper Elite, and “skillful shots are rewarded with a slow-motion sequence of the bullet running its full trajectory before the target is rendered in graphic x-ray detail, showing the bullet entering the body and causing lethal damage.”
Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion, commented:
“Sniper Elite is just the kind of mature game that is perfect for the different mechanics of the Wii U. It’s been a challenge to get it right, but thanks to our team and the fantastic support of our partners at 505 Games we believe we’ve brought the unique gameplay to a whole new platform.”
Sniper Elite V2 is hitting Wii U this spring.

Nintendo comments on Fire Emblem: Awakening shipping issues
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Podcast Stories | 0 comments
Some retailers have Fire Emblem: Awakening in stock today, which is technically the game’s release date. Others, however, may not have stock available until later in the week.
A few retailers have indicated that Awakening is seeing shipping issues/delays/errors. Nintendo’s response to the situation is that sellers “receive their shipments on different days” due to “the variables of shipping”:
“Nintendo makes every effort to make sure its games and systems are available at retail stores nationwide on launch day. Sometimes, because of the variables of shipping, different retailers receive their shipments on different days. Fire Emblem Awakening can be purchased right now from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS.”
Miyamoto and Iwata talk asymmetric gameplay, Pikmin 3
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii U | 0 comments
One of the Wii U’s prominent features is its ability to offer asymmetric gameplay. A player can experience one thing on the television while another may be involved with something completely different on the GamePad. Asymmetric gameplay is certainly an important aspect for Wii U, but according to Shigeru Miyamoto, it won’t be shoehorned into every title.
Pikmin 3 is one such upcoming project that won’t offer asymmetric gameplay. Miyamoto believes that it’s biggest draw is “the high-definition graphics. You can even see Pikmin’s gestures with the graphics.”
Players will be able to view a full map on the GamePad while the TV displays the main visuals. On the other hand, it’s also possible to play off-TV.
Iwata: Unified console and handheld division could lead to more platforms
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Podcast Stories | 0 comments
Nintendo will soon be unifying its console and handheld divisions into one entity. By doing so, the company “would like to integrate software development methods, operating systems, and built-in software and software assets for each platform so that we can use them across different machines.”
Satoru Iwata also teased an interesting scenario during Nintendo’s financial results briefing last week. He said: “if we manage to integrate our platforms successfully, we may in fact be able to make more platforms.”
Capcom: Still no news on Ace Attorney Investigations 2 localization
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News, Podcast Stories | 0 comments
Fans may still be clamoring for Ace Attorney Investigations 2 to be brought overseas, but the game remains as a Japanese-only release. Unfortunately, Capcom’s latest update on the title isn’t too encouraging.
The possibility of Ace Attorney Investigations 2 localization was once again brought up during the most recent Ask Capcom stream. Responding to the inquiry, Capcom’s Christian Svensson noted that “there’s still no new news to share.” While he is still including Investigations 2 in proposals, “nothing has changed”.
Svensson stated:
“… in the case of Investigations 2, the answer is no, there’s still no new news to share. No movement on that front. I will only continue to say that I continue to bring it up in proposals. It continues to sit in some hoppers, but nothing is moving forward there right now at the moment. So status quo – nothing has changed.”
Is this concept art from Monolith Kyoto’s 3DS project?

Monolith Soft’s “X” was revealed during a Nintendo Direct a little over a week ago. This isn’t the company’s only new project in development, however.
In an interview posted on Monolith’s site, Yasuyuki Honne – director of the Baten Kaitos games – stated that its Kyoto studio is continuing to look for staffers. 3D CG effect designers, motion designers, and 3D map modelers are wanted.
For those who are unaware, Monolith posses three divisions. Monolith Tokyo is making “X”. There’s also another team that previously developed Project X Zone. Monolith Kyoto is the final group.
When we last heard about Monolith Soft Kyoto, the studio was hiring for a secret 3DS game. We’re assuming this latest staff recruitment is related.
In a Facebook page promoting the new positions available at its Kyoto office, Monolith attached the image above. Is it a piece of concept art from the new 3DS title?

Super Mario 3D Land is, thus far, having more success than Super Mario Galaxy. 3D Land sold through 8 million copies while Galaxy moved 7.66 million units through their first 13 months on the market.
Japan could be pointed to as the primary reason for Super Mario 3D Land’s success. However, 3D Land sold 1.85 million copies in Japan whereas Galaxy’s sales stood at 934,000.
Galaxy has sold slightly more in the west. But thanks to sales from Japan, 3D Land is outpacing Galaxy worldwide.
