Flipnote Studio 3D to be made available as a free download on Nintendo eShop this summer
13th March 2013 – Start to stockpile your creative juices, as Nintendo has released first details on the new features of animation software Flipnote Studio 3D for Nintendo 3DS. To be released this summer as a free download on Nintendo eShop, Flipnote Studio 3D will give you the chance to devise 3D animated masterpieces with the simple aid of your Nintendo 3DS system. Check out the first details by watching the ‘Nintendo Direct Mini – Flipnote Studio 3D’ video on the Nintendo Direct website.
Flipnote Studio 3D follows up from Flipnote Studio on Nintendo DSi*, furthering the concept of turning your Nintendo handheld console into an animation studio using your stylus to contrive simple or elaborate sketches, called Flipnotes. For those inspired by old-fashioned flip-pads which create the illusion of movement when flicked through, Flipnote Studio 3D is the virtual equivalent, but with the added benefit of 3D layering, and, as with the original Flipnote Studio, the ability to include audio and share your creations with the world.

Sakurai discusses why Smash Bros. Brawl online is no longer thrilling

Here’s how one guy, who wrote in to Brawl producer Masahiro Sakurai, put it:
Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai recently tried playing Brawl online. He was a bit disappointed with the players he encountered. In addition to being disappointed that items were turned off, Sakurai noticed that “nobody ever went on the attack; it was like everyone was taking the approach of waiting for the other guy to take the offensive.”
“The other day, I had my first run at Smash Bros. Brawl online play. What I found was that nobody ever went on the attack; it was like everyone was taking the approach of waiting for the other guy to take the offensive. There were no items, either. I wanted to shout at them ‘This isn’t how you do Smash Bros.’! As the producer, what do you think of fights like this?”

Miyamoto on video games’ future, Pikmin 3

And a bonus! If Miyamoto wasn’t working on video games, he’d probably continue work as an industrial designer.
“Originally, I started off as an industrial designer, and the dream of all industrial designers is to create something that sort of amazes and surprises people. I ultimately chose the path of creating video games, but if I hadn’t been creating video games, I think that and hope that I would be creating things that are similar to that. So, when I look at that as being something that perhaps I might have been able to create, but ultimately wasn’t able to because of the path that I chose, I have a tendency to look at the person that created that thing as a potential rival. So that’s sort of where that thought came from.”

There hasn’t been much news about Ace Attorney 5 since TGS 2012. After many months of waiting, a new report finally surfaced in this week’s Famitsu.
One tidbit has leaked out of the magazine up to this point. It seems that Apollo Justice will be making an appearance in the game, who will be wearing bandages on his left arm and eye. Players will see him sporting a new jacket over one of his soldiers as well.
We’ll update this post with any additional details that come in.

Gah, the more I hear about this game’s development process the more I feel like I want to pick it up just to support what this guy’s all about. It doesn’t seem like a bad game either– the problem is that it’s only on WiiWare, so eShop points cards won’t apply to it! If the game comes out on Wii U or 3DS I’d be sure to pick it up– as I think a lot of you new Wii U owners would as well!

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons launched on the Japanese 3DS eShop a couple of weeks ago. Both games haven’t been released on the North American or European stores yet, but they are on the way.
Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma popped up on the series’ official Miiverse community today with a message regarding the launch of Oracle of Ages and Seasons in the west. While he couldn’t provide a specific date for their arrival, he did confirm that both will be available before summer. Hopefully sooner rather than later!
