Ubisoft dev hints at Wii U launch month?

If a Ubisoft developer is to be believed, Wii U will arrive this November.
GameXplain interviewed engine architect for Rayman Legends David Martinez, who eventually said the console would be out in November. I’ve personally been banking on a November launch for some time now (remember Wii and DS?), but this information has not been confirmed by Nintendo.
You can listen to the release date discussion (although it isn’t much really) at 5:50 in the video above.
Vicarious Visions still involved with Skylanders, making making Giants for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Unlike last year, n-Space is working on the handheld-side of the Skylanders franchise for Activision in 2012. However, the developer of last year’s 3DS title, Vicarious Visions, haven’t been thrown off of the IP.
An Activision representative has said that the studio is still involved with Skylanders. Based on the fact that Skylanders Giants has been confirmed for Wii U, it’d certainly make sense for Vicarious Visions to be making the version for Nintendo’s console.
Nothing has been confirmed though, and it’s possible that Vicarious has moved on to iOS content for Skylanders.
Nintendo showing Japanese Wii U games at a later date?
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Nintendo’s E3 2012 media briefing was sorely lacking on content from eastern developers. However, based on a new tweet from president Satoru Iwata, it seems as though Japanese Wii U games will be shown at a later date.
Here’s the tweet, which has been very roughly translated:
“Because I think third-party software lineup for Japan, again the opportunity, along with the announcement of the Release Date and price, such as hard, and would like to introduce, thank you.”
What I can gather from these garbled words is that another event will be held in the future, possibly in Japan, to show off third-party content from Japanese companies. The same event may contain release date and price information.
Or… maybe there are two completely different events. One for Japanese games, another for launch details.
If anyone has a better translation of Iwata’s tweet, feel free to send it in or post a comment!
Rumor: Tomodachi Collection heading overseas with new name
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
Nintendo’s simulator game for the 3DS, Tomodachi Collection, could be heading overseas.
A new rumor has popped up suggesting that the game’s localization will be announced. It will apparently sport a new name, “Communicator Gamers Collection”.
We’ll know if there’s any truth to this rumor by the end of the week, perhaps as soon as today.
Mass Effect rumored for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
We’re just a few hours away from Nintendo’s E3 2012 media briefing, where Wii U will take center stage.
Interestingly, if a new Facebook page is any indication, the console may see a game from one of EA’s most popular franchises: Mass Effect.
The German Mass Effect page posted the following notice less than an hour ago:
“Don’t forget: Tune into the Nintendo press conference today at 6 pm…
http://e3.nintendo.com”
It’s worth mentioning that the same page made no mention of Sony or Microsoft’s conferences, so this wasn’t just a random post to promote E3 in general. Could this be a sign that Mass Effect is finally coming to a Nintendo console?
Nikkei claims 3DS with larger screen incoming, Wii U price at 30,000 yen, non-game distribution
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
For the past few years, Nikkei has reported on a number of elements set to be announced during Nintendo’s E3 2012 presentations. The publication has followed its tradition once again this year, providing possible news regarding news during tomorrow’s conference.
If Nikkei is to be believed, a new 3DS model is on the way, and it’ll feature a larger, 4.3 inch top screen – that’s 1.5 times the current size. Apparently this update could hit North America, Japan, and Europe as early as Summer 2012.
Nikkei also published rumors about Wii U, which will supposedly be priced at roughly 300,000 yen. That’s roughly $383, though Nintendo would likely adjust that price for other markets. It should be made clear that this is not the final price from Nintendo, and we won’t be hearing about this tomorrow.
Nikkei’s other Wii U rumor suggests that the console will be capable of distributing non-game content such as a car navigator, books, and a karaoke service featuring approximately 10,000 songs.
Keighley: Mario will be on the Wii U at launch
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
A Mario game will launch alongside Wii U, according to Geoff Keighley.
The GameTrailers TV host was asked about a new Mario for the console during a recent Spike All Access Weekly show.
Keighley responded with the following:
“Yeah, that’s another one that’s rumored. I’m pretty sure you’re going to see it. Nintendo did a Zelda game last year for the Wii, so I don’t think you’ll see another Zelda this year. I’m sure there’s going to be some twists to it, but yes, Mario will be on the Wii U at launch.”
The question is, was Keighley basing his comment off of any insider knowledge? Is it just a prediction? We know Mario Wii U will be at E3, and that automatically makes it a strong candidate as a launch title.
Look forward to more information about Nintendo’s Wii U Mario plans during its E3 2012 media briefing on Tuesday.
Rumor: Removed Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed trailer showed Wii U logo
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Ever since we found out about Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, there have strong hints about a Wii U version.
For instance, producer producer Joe Neate teased the possibility at the end of April by saying that fans should be on the lookout “for potential other platforms”.
Now we may have received the ultimate confirmation of a Wii U version, provided the image above is real. It apparently came from an alternate version of today’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed trailer. While the photo itself is likely legitimate, we currently can’t verify that the video was officially made by SEGA.
No Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 for Wii U?
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
The image above comes from the debut trailer of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. As you can see, there’s no Wii U logo up there.
We still don’t know for sure if Lords of Shadow 2 is in the works for Nintendo’s new console, but it’s in doubt now. Either Konami was asked to keep a Wii U version a secret until the Big N’s conference, or it’s simply not planned for the system. I’m sure all will be made clear in a few days.
Rumor: Trailer images from unannounced Ubisoft game leak out
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
A trio of trailer images from an unannounced Ubisoft game may have leaked out. Unfortunately though, not much is shown in the photos.
One simply features a logo from Ubisoft while another contains the text, “Judgement is coming”. Another image does give a small bit of insight into the overall feel of the possible project/trailer, showing a man with what seems to be a bow hunched on his back.
Speculation is already running rampant as to what Ubisoft could be planning. One such guess is that the company will be unveiling a new Prince of Persia.
The source of the images seems to come from a posting on Webstagram. Assuming they’re real, Ubisoft will be showing this game and a trailer during E3 next week.
