Keighley: Mario will be on the Wii U at launch
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
A Mario game will launch alongside Wii U, according to Geoff Keighley.
The GameTrailers TV host was asked about a new Mario for the console during a recent Spike All Access Weekly show.
Keighley responded with the following:
“Yeah, that’s another one that’s rumored. I’m pretty sure you’re going to see it. Nintendo did a Zelda game last year for the Wii, so I don’t think you’ll see another Zelda this year. I’m sure there’s going to be some twists to it, but yes, Mario will be on the Wii U at launch.”
The question is, was Keighley basing his comment off of any insider knowledge? Is it just a prediction? We know Mario Wii U will be at E3, and that automatically makes it a strong candidate as a launch title.
Look forward to more information about Nintendo’s Wii U Mario plans during its E3 2012 media briefing on Tuesday.
Rumor: Removed Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed trailer showed Wii U logo
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Ever since we found out about Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, there have strong hints about a Wii U version.
For instance, producer producer Joe Neate teased the possibility at the end of April by saying that fans should be on the lookout “for potential other platforms”.
Now we may have received the ultimate confirmation of a Wii U version, provided the image above is real. It apparently came from an alternate version of today’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed trailer. While the photo itself is likely legitimate, we currently can’t verify that the video was officially made by SEGA.
No Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 for Wii U?
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
The image above comes from the debut trailer of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. As you can see, there’s no Wii U logo up there.
We still don’t know for sure if Lords of Shadow 2 is in the works for Nintendo’s new console, but it’s in doubt now. Either Konami was asked to keep a Wii U version a secret until the Big N’s conference, or it’s simply not planned for the system. I’m sure all will be made clear in a few days.
Rumor: Trailer images from unannounced Ubisoft game leak out
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
A trio of trailer images from an unannounced Ubisoft game may have leaked out. Unfortunately though, not much is shown in the photos.
One simply features a logo from Ubisoft while another contains the text, “Judgement is coming”. Another image does give a small bit of insight into the overall feel of the possible project/trailer, showing a man with what seems to be a bow hunched on his back.
Speculation is already running rampant as to what Ubisoft could be planning. One such guess is that the company will be unveiling a new Prince of Persia.
The source of the images seems to come from a posting on Webstagram. Assuming they’re real, Ubisoft will be showing this game and a trailer during E3 next week.
Rumor: Ubisoft to announce Splinter Cell: Blacklist at E3
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
With just a few days left until E3, the game announcement rumors are just piling up. The latest speculation pertains to a new Splinter Cell.
One NeoGAF member claims to have seen a trailer for “Splinter Cell: Blacklist”. A supposed trailer features Sam Fisher in a full body suit and night vision goggles, with him sporting a “serious look” and lacking grey hair.
So why’s it subtitled Blacklist? The game will apparently focus on Fisher taking out enemies listed on his blacklist.
Assuming this is true, a reveal will be taking place at E3. This is somewhat backed up by another source, who says he was informed that a new Splinter Cell will be announced next week.
XboxGameZone published a story about Blacklist earlier today, but it has since been removed. The article indicated that the title will be heading to the Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
More talk of no Unreal Engine 4 support for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Update: And here’s the latest from NowGamer:
“Epic Games has confirmed to NowGamer that it has yet to confirm which platforms Unreal Engine 4 will be compatible with – other than PC.”
A new tweet from industry insider and GT.TV host Geoff Keighley suggests that the Wii U won’t be able to run Unreal Engine 4.
Keighley, when asked if the technology would be compatibile with the new console, said “No, at GDC Mike Capps said Wii-U will be Unreal Engine 3.”
There had previously been some doubt about the engine’s ability to be supported on Wii U. Earlier this month, Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney said that the company is “aiming very high, and the intended platforms this is aimed at haven’t even been announced.”
Keighly does appear to be basing his information solely on knowledge gathered from Capps at GDC. That’s a bit odd, considering GT.TV will be featuring Unreal Engine 4 on its June 7 episode.
It could be possible that things may have changed since GDC. Also consider that the Wii U may also be able to support a modified version of the engine sometime down the road. At this point, we don’t know if any of the next-gen consoles will be running the technology at its full capabilities.
Rumor: Most Wanted is the next Need for Speed game
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
EA will be unveiling Need for Speed: Most Wanted during E3 if a new schedule from TwitchTV is to be believed. The site has published a day-by-day schedule of its streaming events, which shows that Most Wanted will receive a gameplay session on June 5. Of course, EA would officially announce the title one day prior during its media briefing.
A Need for Speed: Most Wanted game was released a number of years ago. Either the new game is a sequel, or it’ll be a remake. I personally believe a follow-up is more likely.
The same TwitchTV schedule also lists TBA titles from Ubisoft (including Wii U games), Capcom, and more.
You can find the entire listing after the break.

Rumor: Killer Freaks in development since 2009
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Killer Freaks from Outer Space may have been in the works since 2009.
A LinkedIn profile from Yoan Fanise lists the development period. In October 2009, Fanise contributed to Killer Freaks’ “Pre production audio direction, Sound effects creation, Music and voice direction.”
We do know that Killer Freaks wasn’t always a Wii U title. It was originally pitched as a completely different project for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It would have featured those crazy Rabbids from Ubisoft’s now well-known IP.
Rumor: Some Killer Freaks from Outer Space art assets
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
While not the most exciting Wii U update we’ve seen lately, a few art assets from Killer Freaks from Outer Space might have made their way out from Ubisoft. You can bet we’ll be hearing more about the game at E3 – which is less than two weeks away!
Thanks to Captain N for the tip.
