Nintendo wants to regain trust before Wii U launch, price/date announcement next year
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Some Nintendo fans might be concerned that the Wii U could see a price drop soon after it’s released. President Satoru Iwata is aware of this and hopes to regain trust from consumers before the new console arrives.
You might also be wondering when we’ll be getting a Wii U launch date and price. Iwata confirmed to investors last week that an announcement can be expected next year.
“…With regard to the influence on the Wii U, what we have to take most seriously is that the price markdown could damage the trust of the consumers who bought the Nintendo 3DS just after the launch. I feel greatly accountable for it. Our decision of the price markdown this time has a side effect that, at the launch of the Wii U, people may feel that the price might drop in the near future if they wait. Nevertheless, we have decided to cut down the price of the Nintendo 3DS as we consider it as a necessary decision now. What we will be able to do to recover the consumers’ trust before the launch of the Wii U is very important to us. Since the Wii U we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific proposals on the software titles, we are going to announce the release date and the price next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals. Anyway, the biggest influence is on our consumers’ trust, I think. …”
Iwata’s direct-quote on StreetPass Mii Plaza update, future Mii software
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
We heard a few days ago that Nintendo is preparing an update for the StreetPass Mii Plaza to provide new content for 3DS owners. We also heard that the company is developing additional software to take advantage of Miis. Now we finally have Satoru Iwata’s direct-quote from his Q&A session of Nintendo’s latest financial results.
“As we hear that a fairly good number of people have already done everything we offered with StreetPass Mii Plaza, we are preparing for something new that you can enjoy there in the near future. We are planning to make it available by the end of this calendar year.
“In addition, now that a number of Miis are there in StreetPass Mii Plaza, including those in your immediate circle and those who happened to pass you by, we are developing several software titles to take advantage of them. We will not be able to offer you the full or all the specific possibilities of the Miis stored in StreetPass Mii Plaza within this fiscal year, but we can say that you will never let your 300 Miis stored in your Nintendo 3DS go to waste, as we are preparing for a number of software titles, which will feature such as a theme, to be launched in this and the next fiscal years. Nintendo 3DS is hardware designed so that a number of your surrounding people’s Miis in your StreetPass Mii Plaza will generate a synergistic effect on the software to be offered in the future.”

Capcom launching paid demo for Nazo Waku Yakata in Japan this week
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
You thought Capcom was finished with paid demos after Mega Man Legends 3 was cancelled, didn’t you? Well, think again!
Capcom will be offering a ¥200 demo version of Nazo Waku Yakata this Thursday in Japan. It’ll feature the first chapters of the full game. Neither Nintendo nor Capcom label this download as a demo… but, come on, that’s essentially what it is.
It hasn’t been decided yet if future chapters will make their way to the eShop. If this initial “demo” is successful, I’m sure Capcom will do their best to provide additional content from the retail game.
Thanks to Thomas N for the tip!

Nintendo has revealed a new addition to the 3D Classics lineup. Konami’s TwinBee will be joining Exciebike, Xevious, and Urban Champion on the 3DS eShop next week in Japan.
Like other 3D classics, TwinBee will be available for 600 points. A release date hasn’t been announced for North America, but it’ll likely arrive here soon as well.
