Plenty of Wii U titles have supported downloadable content. However, indies using the Nintendo Web Framework have been out of luck – until now.

A new version of the tech, announced at GDC Europe earlier today, will provide eCommerce support. This will allow developers to monetize additional items such as DLC.

Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians is in development for the Wii U, Threaks has confirmed. The “swimming platformer” just hit Steam a few weeks ago,.

Threaks’ Denis Rogic described the game to Nintendo Life as follows:

We have a music action-adventure. This means that we have a game that actually mimics the game mechanics with music and combines that, meaning that you have the actual action-adventure gameplay that you’d expect like puzzles, fighting and stuff like that, but at the same time, all those mechanics actually are music. By playing the game, you mix and remix the song and kind of interact with that music.

…We have rhythm elements, but they’re a really small portion of the game and they’re always interactive, so you expect a real freedom of movement, freedom of all kinds of things that you would expect from an adventure game, and then you have this additional layer of music in there. For example, there’s a game mechanic that’s a bass drum and the closer you get, the louder it gets and that means it’s a game mechanic. Just by moving through the level without any restrictions, you mix the song.

Expect Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians on the eShop sometime in the future.

Along with Europe, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Turbo: Hyper Fighting and New Challengers are heading to the North American Wii U Virtual Console on Thursday. And also like Europe, Capcom will be extending a special offer to fans.

Those who buy any of the three games can get the other two for 50% off. Europe’s sale is a little bit different – buy two, and you’ll get the last one for free.

Two Eggbusters episodes in one day!? Yup! One of them is a bit shorter, but that’s because it’s a revisit, remaster sort of thing. Hopefully you find them both enjoyable, and if you have any game suggestions please leave a comment.

Three classic Street Fighter games may be making their way to the Wii U eShop next week. According to listings on Nintendo’s website, Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior, Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting, and Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers will be available as Virtual Console downloads. Each is priced at $7.99.

Remember: Nintendo’s listings are sometimes hit and miss. It’s very possible we’ll be seeing these three titles next Thursday, but we won’t know for sure until the official Nintendo Download report is published.

A slew of indie developers are bringing their games to PAX Prime 2013. That includes Fuzzy Wuzzy Games, who intends to have Armillo playable on Wii U.

A tweet from the studio confirms:

Fixie Joe is one of the first Wii U titles from Retromade Games. Originally released for iOS and Android, the new version for Nintendo’s console “will have some improvements on visuals and maybe even some extras involving the Gamepad”, according to CEO Jose Gallardo.

Retromade is also bringing Hell-IX to Wii U. Thankfully, even if the game’s Kickstarter stretch goal isn’t met, it’ll still come to the system – though the game “will be substantially delayed”.

“Yes, but the release date will be substantially delayed; this is because we need to share our time with freelance work for other companies in order to finance our own projects.”

Retromade is looking to release Hell-IX around Christmas. As far as taking advantage of the Wii U, Gallardo said the amount and type of features largely depends on how the Kickstarter campaign performs.

“This depends on many factors, as I said, we are small studio and don’t have endless funds. The Kickstarter was created to help us continue with development and if the stretch goals are achieved, we will feature more modes, levels and Wii U specifics. If we get funded or if we can find an investor, we were thinking about some upgrades like online co-operative mode. We are definitely considering touch controls, which will be used to select targets and other stuff.”

As far as what lies ahead for Retromade, the team may release more maps, “but we want to focus on other games, we have plans for a strategic game located in an alternative present and future.” The indie dev would “also like to develop an MMO based on ancient Asian mythology” as well as create a 3DS version of Fixie Joe.
