Two Oddworld games are coming to Wii U: Stranger’s Wrath HD and New ‘n’ Tasty. Previously, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD was released on PlayStation platforms. Might this one come to Wii U as well?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Just Add Water CEO and Oddworld Inhabitants development director Stewart Gilray told us that there aren’t any plans for a Wii U version of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD because the original title “is built on extremely old tech”, and bringing it over to Wii U would likely be a difficult process.

When asked about the possibility of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD for Wii U, Gilray told us:

“I’m afraid not. Munch is built on extremely old tech, to bring it to PS3 and VITA was quite a struggle because of this, and it’s not one I’d want to repeat with WiiU, sorry.”

We’ll have more about the upcoming Oddworld games for Wii U in the coming days.

Nintendo has published a message from EarthBound creator Shigesato Itoi on the newly-opened Wii U VC site. In it, Itoi discussed what the SNES game means to him. You can either find the full message below or on the official site here.

Nintendo’s new Art Academy title for Wii U, now called “Art Academy: Sketch Pad”, may be coming out on the eShop next week. A listing on the company’s website suggests a release is planned for August 7 (a Wednesday, oddly enough).

The listing also contains the following description:

Art Academy: SketchPad is a robust art application that anyone can enjoy – from beginners to experts of all ages. Unleash your creativity using realistic stylus and touch screen-based controls. The tools at your disposal allow for an amazing level of detail. The huge variety of pencils, colored pencils, and pastels behave just like the real thing – with additional tools to further enhance your experience.

Use a pre-loaded image as a subject, or anything else you wish to create works of art to your heart’s content. When you’re done, you can instantly share your creation by posting directly to Miiverse!

Wii U is the only console that will be missing out on Capcom’s new Strider project. The game is in production for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. And there’s a PC version in the works, of course.

Capcom’s decision to skip Wii U was peculiar, especially given how the company has been supporting the eShop with two soon-to-be-released titles: DuckTales Remastered and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara.

Capcom’s Andrew Szymanski didn’t provide any specific reasons when asked why Strider won’t be available on Wii U, but he did say:

“I don’t necessarily make all of the platform decisions. We try to match the right platform to the right title. Sometimes that’s purely a strategy decision. Sometimes it has to do with technology. Sometimes it has to do with the expertise of any given developer. For this game, we started out on PS3, 360, and PC. As we got more information and actual hardware from next-gen, we saw we would be able to leverage those. Given our release timing is soon after launch we decided that would be a good way to bring it to even more people and add in more bells and whistles.”

While Strider wasn’t initially announced for Wii U, there’s a small chance that the title could land on Nintendo’s console. Following the announcement at Comic-Con, developer Double Helix said Wii U can be considered with enough fan demand.

Nowhere Studios’ new puzzle platformer Monochroma is planned for the Wii U as well as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS Vita, and PC.

Although Nowhere is seeking funding through Kickstarter, the Wii U version appears to be set – the console isn’t a stretch goals, in other words. Though if the initial target of $80,000 isn’t met, the game’s development may be in jeopardy.

If Monochroma does happen, expect to see it on Wii U next May.

You can find more information about Monochroma on the official Kickstarter page here.

Sanuk Games is working on a new title for the Wii U eShop called “Spot the Differences: Party!”, the studio has revealed to Nintendo Everything. It’s a straightforward “Spot the Differences” game that can be played solo with the GamePad or with a Wiimote.

Two local multiplayer modes are also included:

– A synchronous multiplayer more where everybody plays together, one player using the GamePad and others using Wii Remotes
– A turn-based multiplayer mode on the GamePad, allowing players to compare their performances with a synchronous replay at the end of each turn

Spot the Differences: Party! is currently in lotcheck. If all goes well, the game should be out in late August or September.
