Nintendo’s Donkey Kong series is returning to consoles. A new entry in the Donkey Kong Country series was announced during today’s Nintendo Direct: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. This appears to be Retro Studios’ new game.

Animal vikings have invaded Donkey Kong Island. Tropical Freeze is a side-scroller with new dynamic camera angles and Dixie Kong.



It”s a long ways off, but it’s coming!



Players will be able to press the “A” button while sailing to go faster. The Tingle Tuner has become the “Tingle Bottle” on Wii U. You’ll also be able to exchange messages on Miiverse.

The next entry in the long-running Mario Kart series is Mario Kart 8. The racer is coming to Wii U in spring of next year. Bikes are back, and you’ll see tracks that are brand new.


Nintendo finally pulled back the curtain on the Wii U’s first 3D Mario game. The name? Super Mario 3D World. The game offers a new cat power-up for Mario, multiplayer of some sort, and more.

Super Mario 3D World launches this year.




Hmm… looks like this Nintendo Direct will be 40 minutes long in North America and around 37 minutes in Japan.


Wondering just how large New Super Luigi U is? According to the official Japanese website, the game takes up 1.5GB of space. If you’re not interested in downloading the expansion, you’ll be able to pick up Luigi U through retail.
