EA finally confirms Need for Speed: Most Wanted for Wii U, out next year

It took EA awhile, but the company has finally confirmed that Need for Speed: Most Wanted is heading to Wii U. The game won’t be ready for some time, however: it’s expected sometime next year.
An EA representative said:
“We are very excited to deliver Need for Speed: Most Wanted on more platforms and to more gamers. Starting Oct. 30, Most Wanted will be available on X360, PS3, PS Vita, Android and iOS. Then in 2013, Nintendo fans will be able to experience what it means to be Most Wanted amongst their friends on the Wii U.”
It’s currently unclear if the Wii U version will be cross-platform compatible. So we don’t know if it will make use of the Cloudcompete feature, nor do we know if players will be able to complete against users on other platforms.
Amazon’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed date listing is an error

Fortunately, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed isn’t delayed. Amazon’s December listing was nothing more than an error.
Executive producer Steve Lycett told fans on the official SEGA forums:
“Relax, as far as we know that’s a mistake and they’ve got confused with the handheld dates. Mentioned it to SEGA so they know.”
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge confirmed for January 11 launch in Europe

Nintendo of Europe’s January 11, 2013 release date listing wasn’t a fluke. This is indeed the game’s expected launch in the continent.
Of course, Razor’s Edge will still be arriving alongside the Wii U’s launch in North America. I wonder why this isn’t the same case in Europe…

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate won’t support Off-TV play
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Sorry to those who were hoping to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the GamePad: the feature won’t be supported. Capcom confirmed that it can only be played on the television.
In other news, all of Ultimate’s downloadable quests from the 3DS version that have been released in Japan over the past year or so will also be made available for the game’s western release. I imagine that they’ll be included on the Wii U disc, too.
Two Brothers heading to the Wii U eShop, Ackkstudios’ 3D RPG may come to the system
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Another indie game is heading to the Wii U eShop. Ackkstudios, after being approved yesterday (with the whole process taking around two and a half weeks in total), is now an official Wii U developer. The studio’s first order of business is to port Two Brothers to the console – this is due out next year.
Ackkstudios also has a modern 3D RPG in the works. Information is currently unavailable aside from the fact that its graphical style is inspired by titles such as Earthbound and The World Ends with You, but the team is strongly considering the game for Wii U. In fact, there’s even a chance that it could be an exclusive to the system. Nothing is decided on for now, though.
You can look forward to more information about the mystery project at PAX East in March.

EA hints that the full Origin experience won’t be on Wii U anytime soon
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
A few days ago, it was made clear that Origin will cooperate with the Wii U in some ways. For instance, players will need to have an account with EA’s service in order to play the company’s games online.
Just how extensive is the connectivity between Wii U and Origin? EA chief operating officer Peter Moore wouldn’t give a concrete answer when asked if the full Origin experience would be available on the console, but he did hint that the service is more geared toward PCs.
Moore said:
“We haven’t made any announcements on that… Origin continues to be a PC-centric service, one that’s moving quickly to mobile, but as things evolve in the coming years we’ll look at where the demand is. But at the moment Origin is very much PC centric and mobile centric.”
Amazon pushes back Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed release date?
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
There is some concern that SEGA could be delaying Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
The console version was scheduled for mid November in North America. Now, just like the handheld editions, Amazon is listing Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U games for December 11. Consumers are also receiving emails from the retailer that Sonic’s new racer is expected to ship in December rather than November.
I imagine there are two main possibilities here: either Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed really will be delayed, or Amazon has no idea what it’s talking about.
Thanks to Lars Havnes for the tip.
