More Burger King Wii U toys appear

We’re slowly but surely starting to see more of Burger King’s Wii U toys. Photos of additional ones have emerged, and they’re all in the gallery above.
Keep in mind that the items pictured aren’t the only Wii U toys that the fast food restaurant is offering. In total, ten toys should be made available.
Sumo further explains lack of Wii U voice chat in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed won’t support voice chat on Wii U. Executive producer Steve Lycett briefly discussed the decision, but has since provided a more in-depth explanation about the missing feature.
Here’s what he had to say:
“…Bear in mind Voice chat is only supported by third party peripherals and then only on the GamePad. Given we felt only a select few players would therefore go buy said peripheral and it meant only one player being able to chat, we opted to spend the time and effort on features more players would enjoy.
“We’ve hardly rushed it out, we’ve attempted to support as many WiiU specifics as we can via the 5 player splitscreen both off and online, WiiU specific game modes, Mii’s with a unique vehicle and more.
“You make these calls with a launch title as you don’t know what kind of uptake a given feature has. Besides, lack of voice chat never hurt Mario Kart Wii eh? :P”

EA provides details about Wii U’s online architecture, “Nintendo Network ID” mentioned

EA was discussing how ‘Origins’ would function on Nintendo’s upcoming console when they– perhaps unintentionally– let slip a few details regarding what people can expect from Wii U’s online offering:
– You need an Origin account to play EA’s titles online
– You have to transfer some information to EA in order to use Origin
– Information includes Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language, and date of birth
– You do not have to transfer any financial or credit card information
The thing to note here is that “Nintendo Network ID” has taken the place of “Gamertag” and “online ID”, which were the phrases used in the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 descriptions of ‘Origins’ respectively. Additionally, “Mii Information” seems like a bit of a silly thing to need… but who knows!? We’ll see if anyone retracts or changes their statements now that a deal is being made about it.
Two Tribes comes across Wii U hardware feature to reduce texture memory usage

On Twitter, Two Tribes told its followers that it “discovered a new hardware feature of the Wii U that shaves off 100 megabytes of texture memory”. The technique will be used in Toki Tori 2.
The studio later spoke about the advantages of the new feature. Two Tribes says “it means we spend less time loading and have more memory available when the game is running.”

What FIFA 13 Wii U does and doesn’t have

Compared to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, FIFA 13 on Wii U is kind of a mixed bag. You won’t be getting the First Touch system and the FIFA Street skill system, among other touches made to features such as the Player Impact Engine, tactical defending and precision dribbling.
According to producer Matt Prior:
“Some of the later improvements on 13 we weren’t able to get into the game. So we’ve got version one. They’ve got version two.”
The team took around fourteen months to build FIFA 13. 80 percent of the time was spent on building the game’s foundation, while the other twenty was used to add in new features. That’s why the Wii U title is lacking compared to the other console release.
