This information comes from Sonic Colors director Takashi Iizuka…

“It’s not like Sonic is exclusively for this platform, it’s just that this game in particular (Sonic Colors) was made for this purpose. It’s not like [Sonic Colours] wouldn’t fit the PS3 or 360, actually this game would probably work with those core audiences, the more action audience as well.”

The Wii is actually in a unique position because it’s the only console getting a 3D Sonic title this year. Considering that Colors is showing a great amount of promise though, I’m sure a lot of fans would have liked to have seen the game made available on a number of different platforms.
