Update: Game night is over! Thanks for playing!

Ladies and gentlemen, I regret to inform that though we had many people give their Mario Kart friend codes, not too many of them confirmed that they’d be playing tonight. Additionally, a lot of people had to drop out due to not having the game with them, or for other reasons, but they’ll be back next week. For a test run of the idea, I’m happy with the group we’ve assembled!

Name: Ronin180
FC: 2449-8125-6701
Name: Alex L
Friend Code: 3866 8427 4129
Name: Valay
Friend Code: 2921-9485-4731
Name: Jack
Friend Code: 2965 6583 5641

We’ve got at least 2 more people coming in later (myself being one of them, but I’ve gotta get to the house I’ll be playing at before I can give you my code!), but I wanted to get this up as soon as possible so people are ready! You still have time to squeeze into this group, but I know some people are bringing guests so it could fill up. If you’re playing, add all these codes, and remember that the games begin at 7PM CST, with the room being hosted by me! I’ll do a final update with a link to the IRC chat so we can all talk, but until then things should stay quiet!

Hello, fine visitors of NintendoEverything.com! I’ve got one last update about these game nights before they get underway (except the post immediately before they start, of course), and it’s super important! To start, the game we’ve chosen to play, as decided by the poll, is indeed Mario Kart Wii. This means that everyone here who has Mario Kart Wii should either send me an e-mail with their friend code (if they haven’t already), post it in the “Game Nights” topic on the forum, or join the forum and post it in the comments section below.

What to do if you want to participate:
Assuming I already have your friend code, there’s just one or two simple things you have to do. To start, you have to let me or Valay know you plan on participating in this specific game night. How can you do this? Any way you can think of! E-mail us, send us a private message on the forum, or contact one of us in some other manner; all we need is to know that you want to play a few rounds of Mario Kart this Saturday! When you contact us, feel free to throw your friend code in with the message if you haven’t already and you’re too lazy to find every single one of your codes.

Come Saturday, everyone should expect to be online at 7PM CST/8PM EST/5PM PST/anything else you need to calculate. This is extremely important to ensure we get going quickly, and play as many matches as we can! During the whole thing, we’ll (hopefully) have an IRC chat going on the forum for any smack-talking or praise we need to dish out, but if not, we’ll find SOME way to communicate with each other during or between games!

Last thing: The list of who will 100% for sure be playing will be posted Saturday morning/early afternoon! When it is posted, make sure you add all of the friend codes of people in your “group” (you’ll see what I mean come Saturday), and then we’ll begin when everyone is ready! Hopefully all of this hard work will pay off, and I have a feeling it will, so stick with me and let’s have an awesome time this Saturday!

Any questions? Post them in the comments! I’ll be monitoring this post carefully to make sure I can answer everything.

Hey guys, sorry about the absence of an article this weekend! I was out of town, and thus didn’t have time to get something up! However, I’ve got a very important update for everyone that’s planning on participating in this week’s game night: I have decided that the game we will play is between Mario Kart and The Conduit. Before I go on, here’s the quick version of all the info for you all that are short on time or don’t feel like reading a long drawn out article:

– Game nights will now work on a week to week basis: I’ll announce the game at the beginning of the week, and you send me your code for that game (if you haven’t already) that week.
– You CAN post friend codes in the comments section below this post, but it is extremely important that you have a forum account so we can contact you.
– Please vote on which game you prefer!

My final decision will come soon, but for now I want to hear what you guys think! Would you prefer The Conduit or Mario Kart for this Saturday’s play session? Also, would you prefer game nights to be on Friday nights or on Saturday nights? Leave comments/friend codes in the comment section below, and make sure to sign up for the forum!

Mario looks really serious because he wants you to read the rest of this entry.

So, here’s an idea for all of you reading this: How about we all play some games together one night a week? That’s my latest crazy idea.

What ever happened to game nights? I remember when I was a kid, my family would get together once a week and play board games as a way of bonding or something, and now I’m wondering: What ever happened to that? Well, I think we need to bring them back, so that’s what I’m here to do. I ran this by everyone a while back, and I’m just now getting back to it and putting everything in motion for this next week! Here’s all the details on the project:

Okay, so this isn’t part 2 of the “Has Nintendo betrayed their fanbase?” article, but it’s something that I feel I’ve gotta type up at some point or another. Believe it or not, tomorrow marks my one-year anniversary of writing for Nintendo Everything, and because of that I feel the need to dish out some major “thank you”s right about now. It’s been an absolutely fantastic year for me and video games, and I definitely want to give a big chunk of the credit to everyone that visits, contributes, or enjoys the site. You guys are the best.

First, I’ve gotta thank the bulk of the reason this site is as popular as it is: You guys. Everyone that is reading this, everyone that has commented on a news story, an article, joined the forum, or sent in a news tip; you guys are the biggest reason I do this (and because I enjoy it, of course!). Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am, and neither would NE. I think I speak for everyone that contributes to the site when I give you guys a major thank you. I really don’t know how many of you there are out there, but I’d send each and every one of you a personal thank you card if I could. I’m not sure what brought you to NE in the first place, but I am so thankful you’re here and sticking around! Hopefully you’ll stay for many, many years to come.

I have to say, today was an extremely crazy day. I woke up at about 8 AM, posted a few things, and then prepared myself for Nintendo’s media summit. Since the conference started, I’ve been at the computer for about ten hours straight. I think my brain is going to melt soon! I honestly don’t remember posting as much as I have today. Well, except for E3. Anyway, since I don’t always get a chance to share my thoughts on certain topics, I thought I might as well start now.

I think most Nintendo fans would agree that Nintendo really delivered the goods today. Usually, Nintendo saves most of their announcements for the big stage like E3, but we received a lot of worthwhile news over the past few hours. Nintendo announced release dates for Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M, revealed a slew of WiiWare and DSiWare titles, and even had some unlikely products to promote such as FlingSmash. Not to mention that tons of screenshots and trailers were released for Nintendo’s first-half lineup.

Personally, the biggest surprises at the event were the release dates for Other M and Galaxy 2. Based on the news we heard yesterday, it seemed as though we would be getting Galaxy 2 in June and then Other M in August. As we know now, however, that’s not the case. I really wasn’t expecting both titles so soon, but I’m definitely glad they’re coming.

So now, of course, Nintendo’s next big event will be E3. I don’t believe Satoru Iwata has a keynote GDC, although Yoshio Sakamoto will have a lecture. Zelda Wii will be at E3 and you can definitely expect the Vitality Sensor to have a huge presence as well. I do wonder, though, what else will Nintendo have in store? Could Xenoblade be released this year? And what about The Last Story? Will Nintendo show some of their games for 2011? Or maybe the company will show the DS’ successor for the first time? As you can see, there are some interesting things to consider.

Just so you know, Nintendo’s embargo will be lifted at 9 PM PST, so previews of titles like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M will be posted on a bunch of sites. Right now, I’m just going to soak in all of the wonderful news we had today. Although, I’m curious – What did you guys think about the event?

Even though it looked like Nintendo of Australia’s conference was going to be a dud, we did hear the exciting news that Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M will be released this summer. Also, it looks like Other M will be at Nintendo of America’s media summit. Right now, thanks to the latest IGN Voice Chat podcast, we know that WarioWare: D.I.Y., Pokemon HeartGold/Soul Silver, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Rage of the Gladiator, America’s Test Kitchen, and most likely Monster Hunter 3 will be playable for the press tomorrow as well. It’s possible that, in addition, there will be news about the release date for the DSi XL and an announcement regarding the black Wii.

In terms of site coverage, we’ll be handling the summit just like any other event. Obviously, it won’t be nearly as big as E3 and I’m not sure how much news and how many assets there will be to post. Nonetheless, you can expect us to immediately share every single goodie from the event. The fun will begin at 9 AM PST, but I’ll be around the whole day for you guys!

As you know by now, Nintendo Everything is on a brand new server. There were a few issues that I immediately noticed from the switch, so they were corrected soon after. Unfortunately, I did not notice one problem in particular until a little while ago. While direct emails worked fine for the most part, I’d say about 80% of the emails sent in through the contact form were not received. So, if you sent an email through that form in the past 24 hours, I most likely did not and probably will not see it. Everything seems to be in working order now, however. If you have a news tip or other item you’d like to send our way, I should be able to receive it.

Sorry for the slowness and downtime on the site for the past half hour or so. But the good news is that it was definitely worth it! We’ve transferred everything to a new server, and you guys will probably be able to see the results right away. In fact, I’d say we’re more than five times faster now. We’ve also been pretty good with keeping the site up and not encountering any major issues the past few months, but I think things will be even better from here on out. I truly hope that we never have any extended, unplanned period of downtime ever again.
